I mean you were so depressed you all switched to the olympics. pietersen has a dip and you think its an automatic 600+ they've done well.
To be fair they can regularly expect 50+ minimum runs from these tailenders alone. Not about 15 or whatever it was.

With Tahir, you've gotta take it as it is. A big part of a leg spinners job is to clean up a tail, especially a leg spinner who has the tricks that Tahir does possess. The really good leggies can take the top order wickets as well obv, but Tahir clearly doesn't fall into that category, but that's ok because SA have such a good new ball pace attack.

Off spinners, particularly ones without the doosra, are generally always going to struggle against the tail because they can just swing with the spin as long as it's in their arc.

Yeah, definitely. Especially considering how often SA struggled with cleaning up the tail when Harris played. They have Kallis too so there's no need to keep bowling him when he's bleeding runs.

Is this sort of equilibrium thing from the Olympics?

If so does that mean Australia are going to win every single game by an innings for the next 50 years, including ODIs and T20s?
Nah, you're just reverting to type as the carnival draws to a close :)

Fat Gray never gets much of a mention in terms of standing as an AT opener, but 100 plus tests at an average of over 50 is substantial in anyone's books, despite his batting being less than easy on the eye.

Those 49 extras are going to cost SA, 6 runs behind vs about 40 ahead are two completely different situations.

Also hi everyone, been lurking for awhile but did have another (Zulu_fan) account on here that I can't remember the password or email address used to register.

Nearly fell flat on his arse then Smith, almost ended up like he did against Hoggard.

****ing launching it down now.

Can't see them getting back on for a few hours.

Yeah great record for an opener playing his home games in SA. He's a bit vulnerable to good bowling though, Zaheer in particular would just get him out for fun. Similar to Cook, actually.
