Super 15 Discussion and Prediction Competition

I'll post it here rather than dig out the rugby topic, but it sounds as though Graham Henry's looking to create as much controversy as he can to help sales of his new book:
http://www.espnscrum.com/newzealand/rugby/story/167769.html said:
In the book, penned by journalist Bob Howitt, Henry reportedly reveals that he was so shocked by what he saw that he became nauseous before actually throwing up and in his final analysis he suggested that Barnes missed a total of 40 penalty infringements by France.

The book states: "He told them he believed, given the graphic video evidence available, that the NZRU should pressure the International Rugby Board to institute an inquiry. He also emphasised that it was incomprehensible that the IRB did not have strategies in place to investigate bizarre matches. And when it came to bizarre, this World Cup quarter-final was an absolute doozy.

"As far as Graham was concerned, the major reason the All Blacks had lost was not because of conditioning or rotation policies or decisions by his captain, but purely and simply because the officials had refereed only one team, to a degree unprecedented in the history of the sport.

"He knew if a comparable situation had occurred in other sports, it would be investigated. But there existed a blissful purity about rugby, or at least that's how everyone wanted to perceive it. It wasn't politically correct to even suggest the match officials might have favoured one team."

Well my only chance of winning is to back the Sharks. However I am happy enough with second and to finish one point back after being in last place and 4 points back after the 1st round is a good effort.

I'd rather give myself a chance at winning. Whatever happens you aren't going to do worse than second. Second by 1 point or second by 4 is still second.

Of course, feel free to concede victory and remove any hope for you're victory before the final battle though.

Chiefs are my team and don't want to root against them.

The only way I could bring myself to tip the sharks is if I put $'s on the chiefs on the TAB.

I will give it some thought.

1point - difference's going to be larger than that. For the Sharks, of course!
I wouldn't mind seeing a 1 point game going either way TBH. Hoping more that the red card doesn't have to be used as much as in the simulation though!

Chiefs my pick for the final.

Sharks for the LMS.

I have a few more videos of the semi-finals which I simulated today. Turns out that if I'd tipped as per those results I'd have scored more points than I actually managed. Chiefs vs Crusaders still uploading but the Stormers vs Sharks link is here: Stormers vs Sharks Super Rugby semi-final 2012 - simulation retrospective - YouTube

With that said, I'm wondering if there would be interest for a Super Rugby draft and simulation competition? The game allows me to create teams and insert players fairly easily into those sides so putting the teams together for a sim would be straight forward. Theres also lots of strategic options for non-player controlled sides, so selecting the side in the draft is only one aspect of the game, with tactics playing a major part also. Just keen on seeing if theres interest - I can only control up to 8 sides in one simulated competition so numbers don't have to be extraordinary but obviously would have to be enough to make it worthwhile.

You'll only get 2 or 3 of us from this CW thread. I would be in.

Will change my pick to the Sharks it will be a miracle if they win after all this travel. They only arrived in the country on Thursday.

But they are getting Lambie back - and they do have this young game breaker Jordaan playing. I just worry he will be too small to tackle SBW.

Good luck to the young man.

Will put some money on the Chiefs though on the TAB - so that I win either way.

Indeed wishing I had bet more than $5 on the game. Chiefs can blow this open if they start running it.

But it sounds like from the halftime interview that we will be playing 10 man rugby in the second half.

Chiefs really dominant in the first half. Worried that the travel factor's caught up on the Sharks. The changes to the Sharks have been a real mixed bag - Lambie's been thoroughly outplayed by Robinson, but Jordaan has more than held his own against SBW.
