**Official** South Africa in England 2012

I'm sure Stuart Broad used to bowl in the high eighties and occasionally break 90mph, but this year his speed seems right down around 80mph.

Anyone know why?

Been enthralling cricket today. The bowling has been ok as has the batting but neither side have given an inch yet. England eon't be too worried at present as when the 2nd new ball is ready to be taken SA will still be well over 100 behind, maybe even 150 at the current scoring rate.

Is this the time we say how all the English bowlers have been massively overhyped like the English posters said about the Saffies?

Really? With Smith's history of massive scores in England? Amla doesn't look like he's going to throw it away either.

It's par of the course for the English to announce one of their own as the second coming only for them to bring back 1999.

Conversely the sun may dry out the pitch and give it some pace and spin, so we'll see.
Swann already looks set to bowl a heck of a lot of overs today. He'll need to be in top form though, and stop being kidded by Amla into bowling way outside off stump.

Well, one or two of the English posters anyway. Most of us thought it might be an idea to wait until we were more than one day into the series before making any sort of judgement.

Because he bowls better and gets more movement.
And the pitch seems devoid of any pace.

Which would be all well and good if he was actually containing the batsmen.

And I'd prefer him not to be bowling this round-the-wicket crap to Smith.

It was only like one or two wasn't it?

But I'd say it's time to crack their heads open and feast on the goo inside

Ha, quite.

Those of us who won't see 35 again noteable by our absence from the drum beating, one notes.
