He got me going for second did Big Steve, 3 wickets in 3 overs it was like 2004 all over again, tail in and a chance for more wickets, then the 2012 version showed up & got smashed for four four's in a over.
Sometimes you have to speculate to accumulate

Interesting innings though, best partnerships being the first and last, just a shame about the bit in between.

Vikram Solanki heading to Surrey I see. Might get 2 or 3 good years out of him I suppose. Less questionable than signing an opening bowler of the same age (36), as we did last year.

Did you read Joe Root's comments about Harmison's three wickets? Definitely damning with faint praise. I'll try and find them for you.

EDIT
Here's the relevant bit from cricinfo's report on the game.

But how quickly the tide of fortune can turn in this game and he responded in the best possible fashion when Phil Jaques brought him back in the 27th over. It proved an inspired piece of captaincy as he took 3 for 0 in 11 balls although it has to be said, Derbyshire gave Harmison generous assistance.

First Jon Clare was tempted into a rash drive at a ball he should have left alone and then in his next over, Wes Durston chased one he should have ignored and edged to second slip. It was hardly vintage stuff but after all his recent problems, Harmison will not mind how the wickets come.

As Yorkshire opener Joe Root said: "They might not have been the most pleasing-on-the-eye balls that got the wickets but the pace he was bowling at obviously put a lot of doubt in the batsmen's minds. You could see they weren't comfortable so you've got to give him a bit of credit."

At least his third victim was the result of a decent bouncer which former Yorkshire batsman David Wainwright helped on its way into the hands of Moin Ashraf who did well to take the catch and stay inside the ropes.

Yes having lost the experience of Ramps he may be a useful addition. Chris Adams mentioned they were looking at a variety of players, they want an opening batsman an experienced middle order bat and an all-rounder. He seemed pretty with their seam department.

Yes I read this earlier and I suppose he'll take anything he can get in the wickets front atm, maybe a bit of confidence is exactly what he needs. Dizzy seems to think there's still a bit of life in big Steve and he hasn't guided us too wrong so far, so we'll see.

Dizzy sees a lot of himself in Big Steve, specifically himself during the 2005 Ashes

Woakes is ridiculous. He's probably the one player that could make 5 bowlers work for England. Woakes 7, Bres 8, Broad 9, Swann 10, Jimmy 11. Don't know whether his bowling would be useful though with 3 other quality seamers in the lineup.

Yorkies must be gutted. Today is rained off already at Chesterfield.

I think I may have described Jeets as the worst ever over-seas player in a post in here before, well that's biting me on the arse .
