I know England will whitewash them as they are on par with Australia of the 90s but what happens if, I mean BIG IF, SA wins by large amount of luck.
Gee, I dunno. I'd really have to take stock of life and re-evaluate if something like that happens.

Nice start from Kent.

Did sort of wonder if we might've named Monty/Sammy/Tredders as cover for Swann's elbow issues, but otherwise pretty much as advertised beforehand.
I would've been tempted to bring in Samit in case the pitch is a turner and they want to go with two spinners a la Sri Lanka.

Not the best of build ups for the Saffers really. Still expect them to turn it on big time for the tests so I'm not reading much into it.

But it still remains to be seen how the horrible injury to Mark Boucher will affect them.

Can't wait for it to start tbh.

I don't really get why you would control for infrastructure anyway. If a country was the best at cricket because they had excellent facilities and could get a lot of kids playing the game, surely that should be something for their fans to be proud of rather than a stick for opposing fans to beat them with?
Yeah, that ended up a weird discussion. I think there was more than one understanding of the term 'infrastructure' going on, which didn't help. Anyway, onwards & upwards.

As I'm sure everyone agrees, no surprises at all in the squad named by England this mornning. The lack of a back-up spinner suggests they expect Swann to be fine come Thursday, so with Bopara very likely to be a certain starter in the number six slot, it only leaves the third seamer spot to be finalised and I strongly expect Bresnan to be the one to retain his spot. The only reason he may be left out, imo, is if his elbow is deemed to be hindering him, he does seem to have a lost a bit of nip since his operation.

Weather looks pap for thursday :@

Seems to be improving after that though so hopefully this whole jet stream thing is over and we can get some sun
