Not Tredwell, please not Tredwell. Someone younger like Briggs surely deserves a chance.

Anyone but Tredwell IMO.

I am presuming he is on about the fact that in recent times they have taken Chopra, Maddy, Clarke and Wright. Quite a decent chunk of the side that have been transferred in I suppose.

Can't be arsed to check other counties but Notts are probably far worse in getting players in from elsewhere.
They were after Taylor for ages as well but failed, Porterfield also recently got bought by them . It's not as if it's a secret it's pretty well known. Like you say Notts seem to have become a bit more guilty of it of late, with their recent raid into Leicestershire for Gurney and Taylor.

Yes i'd like Briggs to have a crack, I like the kids temperament and he seems to do a lot of batsmen with the bounce he gets due to his height.

It's Dockrell & how would he be qualified?
Well thanks for the spelling correction, I shall now feel much more enlightened and hence happy-go-lucky throughout the day:)

I thought he was qualified, he's certainly talked about playing for England in the past. I could be wrong though, I invariably am, maybe he was talking about the future.

He's playing an ODI for Ireland today, so probably has a fair wait ahead if he does have England aspirations.

I'm pretty sure with the current rules he could play for England tomorrow, but would then have to wait 4 years to play for Ireland again.

Whilst not enthused about the selection of Tredwell, Briggs has hardly done much to warrant selection recently. Dropped in the CC, and outbowled by until this season the occasional bowler Liam Dawson in the shorter formats. His batting and fielding also offer nothing. Tredwell is hardly a progressive selection but he's done a good job whenever he's been asked by England - his selection only illustrates the problems england are going to have moving forward once Swann is gone. Although there are a few decent prospects doing well this season (Wainwright, Kerrigan, Dockrell) there really is not much behind Swann and with the weather as it is in recent years and half the county championship being played in the first couple of months of the season it's not going to get any easier for English spinners in the near future.

Tredwell is very unlikely to play anyway imo, Patel or another seamer likely get Swann's place. Or more likely the whole discussion is moot and it'll rain for the two games.

The residency qualification was recently upped to seven years for anyone who moved to England after the age of 18, but think that only applies to those born in other test nations and those already in the process of qualifying before 25/04/12 have transitional protection (or "The Sam Robson Clause" as I prefer to think of it) to four years.

As Dockrell's a Mick and (I think) debuted for his county before he was 18, presumably he must be pretty close to doing his four years.

It might be OK weatherwise for the game at Chester-le-Street. All depends on how much rain has fallen today and how much falls tomorrow. At the moment it looks like Saturday should be dry and fairly bright if not sunny!

Sunshine in the North-East? What will they think of next?
