They couldn't afford him or something. They must have given Birt - and others - a two season deal

oh. well salpietro was way closer to playing for sa as far as i remember. not sure its a good thing but hey.
Salpietro played for Victoria in that same year. You guys were promising Muirhead a contract to leave during the season and come play for South Australia, offering him games and was why he played for the Strikers.

after the big bash salpietro got asked to stay around in sa with a view to looking to pick him in the four day stuff. vic also asked him to train with them, made decision to return for the back half and ended up getting some games for vic. as far as the muirhead stuff i have no idea, but when i saw him bowl he bowled ****.

Possibly, although he's seemingly been unable to string more than 2 games together without breaking down.

Pretty sure Coyte and Daniel Smith haven't recieved contracts.
I think these two are unlucky to not get a contract despite 179* from Smith and 6-60 from Coyte last season especially given how little Abbott, Bills, Cruickshank, Dawson, Doran, Hughes, Henry, Sandhu, Tremain and Zampa have had to do to win a contract themselves.

Well six of those are rookie contract eligible and four have in fact recieved rookie contracts so take those out of the equation it narrows it down.

Scott Coyte is for one not your model professional cricketer, being a smoker etc and possibly not being that committed to training to ensure he recieves a professional contract.

Daniel Smith has had 1 innings in how many years of professional cricket at North Sydney Oval(short boundaries). He is another who has major fitness issues etc. Not only that he has an ego on him for someone who has done very little.

This I would think would play a major part.

I agree Cruickshank has proved nothing and has a few serious technique flaws but rumour has it he has been pretty much the hardest worker at pre - season with a lot of weight loss(he wasn't really that fat anyway).

Dawson has done some impressive things in First Class Cricket before and was rewarded for that and his grade form in a time NSW needed a few experienced batsmen(out of the new bats) to be around.

Hughes and Henry are just young guys they are hoping to develop into good first class cricketers obviously both are a year out of Rookie contracts I am pretty sure and both are potential opening batsmen so it makes sense.

Given we've always loved Coyte, and he actually performed really well when we rushed him back in, I'm a bit surprised he's missing out

Blizzard and Van der Gugten to Tasmania apparently. I'm pretty happy about this! We seem to have held onto all our best players (minus Triffit), and Blizzard especially should be a big inclusion.

Blizzard at the Hurricanes would work well too.

BTW, I'm happy with the Pomersbach to QLD signing it just screams of a Boof deal. You would think if Boof can't get the most out of him, no one will.

Headline writer's dream.

Really pleased that Tasmania's kept their big guns and attracted some other players. Queensland's attract some good players too. Says a lot about their organisation's culture.

NSW on the other hand....
