Goota laugh when Beefy bases his decision on the quickness of the player to review

If that was the criteria, lady boy would have 500 test wickets and 10000 runs already
Yeah but Watson would never be out and have passed Tendulkar as highest scorer.

Where's Mike Hussey?

Get rid of Forrest and Doherty, please. Smith and Clarke are more likely options than Doherty.

Get rid of Mitch Johnson, for good.

Warner
Wade
D. Hussey (7)
Watson (4)
Clarke (6)
Bailey
M. Hussey
Smith (5)
Lee (1)
Cummins/Pattinson (3)
McKay (2)

Seven legitimate bowling options (three spinners) and stronger batting. We really don't need Doherty.
there are too many things wrong with this batting order for me to describe at 6am without sleep

Good post, concise and conclusive.

That is exactly our best line up atm. The only debatable point is whether you'd bat Watson at 3, 4 or open.

Wade should open or bat at 3. Watson at either 3 or 4, Dussey the other. Dussey needs time to build an innings and have the others bat around him.

Clarke is right at 5, and Bailey is right at 6.

Mike Hussey finishes at seven, with Smith's unorthodox hitting at 8.

Would have thought that classy Bopara innings today would have annoyed a few of his less than complimentary followers. It was a gem of an innings, but something I appreciate he must now do on a more consistent basis in all forms.

Another pretty comfortable run out for England, but nothing won yet.

Only annoying thing is that he doesn't do it enough. I have praised him lots today and I am very critical of him. Lets hope this isn't a flash in the pan.

This was after Bresnan dropped a tough chance and swann went off on a hissy fit, swearing and just generally giving off a terrible attitude. Read his autobiography and tell me he is not selfish and self absorbed.

You just seem pissed at me because I've been critical of Yorkshire.
LoL you think I give a monkeys because you've made remarks about Yorkshire, grow up mate. I called you out because you made a **** post, if I got pissed with people who were critical of Yorkshire I'd hate most of my own fans.

So you came to the conclusion that Swann would rather lose and bowl well, than win and not, wtf, all the England bowlers throw their toys out when someone drops a catch, it comes from desperately wanting to win.

Yes this innings does serve to remind what he is capable of against a decent side, let's hope he really believes that he can go on and perform like this consistently.

You just hope that this is the innings that makes it all click for him, been here before but I really hope it does because he does look a good player when he's in form.

Yup. Stupid when a catch goes down or it goes through a fielders legs, and he still gets a high five or a slap on the back. No room for happy clappy 'well done you tried your best' bull**** on the field.

Tbh they were probably in the bar laughing about it after the game...

He was in pretty much this position after the 96 last summer against India & I don't see any reason to believe that things will be any different this time - they should move Morgan up to four & invest in the likes of Bairstow or Buttler.

Deep down I agree, but having gone this far then they may as well give him a chance in the test side. If he fails to take it we drop him for good and move on.

Bopara to bowl better than he bats.
No. Actually it's very much up for debate. Just like how it should be for a genuine all-rounder

With incest laws as they currently stand, Tasmanian's have no other option but to pull tbf.

I don't understand why he doesn't just allow himself an extra few inches, just to be safe.
It's so much more complicated than that. The problem is likely related to his strides in his run up. Once you start bowling no balls it can be hard to continue your rhythm when running in.

Re England possibly becoming number 1 in ODI's: I'm personally not that surprised tbh. We practically never lose series at home and we've won in South Africa and the UAE. The only series loses we've had, albeit big ones, in recent years have been against Australia after victorious Ashes series and in India.

Being behind in the rankings is very beneficial when trying to gain ranking points as well. I imagine we gained more points than lost after the dual ODI series against India last year, simply because india were far ahead of us in the rankings, meaning we gained more points than them for a win. Think the Sri Lanka side we beat last year we're in the top 3 as well, although I could be wrong.

If our blokes are going to play like this, they frankly deserve to be made to go to Birmingham.

Dont think Eng would rate as favourites for an ODI tourney outside their own country and most people wouldnt even suspect that they had a chance of going to no.1
I think a couple of post-Ashes thrashings that we've received, combined with being dicked 5-0 in India last year has overshadowed how well England have done in ODI series over the last 4-5 years.

Other than the 3 series I've mentioned, I think the only ODI series we've lost have been our series against New Zealand in 2008.

It's the poor WC showings that have tended to overshadow the bilateral series wins, like you say we haven't lost a great deal at all the last few years.
