ODI All Time XI

Why pick someone who doesn't bat fast enough, doesn't take wickets quickly enough, doesn't keep it tight enough and doesn't perform in Finals.

Good to see mate.

Did he make or come close to making your top team Smali? I just think it would be a sad day for the ODI format if Kallis was making World all time XI's on a regular basis.

lol.....I did think about him. Especially if I need stability in the middle order.

And come on.....he ain't that bad

Yeah of course he's not that bad but he is far from outstanding and you really should be only selecting outstanding Cricketers in your best ever eleven.

I can't think of any situation where Kallis's stability would make him one of the 4 or 5 best middle order candidates. Can you tell me?

when you have opposition bowlers who are also of the same quality as your ODI XI run through your top order. You need stability then

Adam Gilchrist ( + )
Sachin Tendulkar
Viv Richards ( c ) 6
Ricky Ponting
AB de Villiers
Micheal Bevan
Lance Klusener 4
Shaun Pollock 2
Wasim Akram 1
Muttiah Muralitharan 5
Allan Donald 3

Wanted to go for Glenn McGrath ahead of Donald but I have already picked Pollock who was as good as McG in ODIs so decided to go with much more attacking option in Donald...

why the hell is Pollock captain of your team?

I think he was one of the worst SA captains post 1991

Okay so just say your team is 40/3 from 13 overs chasing any score actually, be it 182 to win or 242 to win, would Kallis be one of the two or three batsman of all time that you would like to have at the crease?

Ponting and Wasim also worth a shout as captains in your team

Ponting for ODIs definitely a decent shout

definitely in the consideration set I would say given that you are 40/3

I'd pick both Kapil and Imran easily over Jayasuriya most of the time. Both Imran and Kapil are frontline bowlers who can EASILY bat in an ATG top six. Jayasuriya is a good bowler, but he is more a fifth option type bowler.

So Imran or Kapil give you: A top six batsman who can open the bowling.

Jaya gives you: An opening batsman who is a fifth option with the ball...

An ATG team discussion should not revolve around Jayasuriya's bowling TBH.
Jaya will easily bowl in top five than Kapil or Imran batting in top 6.
