This is getting ridiculous. I'm sure that the reason why people aren't picking is because they can't be bothered to go to the effort of finding another piss-poor bits-and-pieces makeweight to add to their already unbalanced teams.

We are already going to have a free pick in round 12.

Can I suggest, now that we're on the brink of round 11, that round 11 should be a free pick too? If so, then I suggest Spikey's time should start again, and we can then get on with repairing our teams and get this draft finished.

I personally don't like the idea for round 12 also. That's primarily because I don't like any change in rules in the middle of a game. Had I known this before, I would have chosen better bowlers before...

I think the free pick for Round 12 probably has been agreed. This is what's been said on the subject:

Here's a suggestion to ameliorate the problem: how about in the 12th round we can all have a free pick? I say that because it's pretty clear that lots of people are going to be left with some horribly unbalanced teams - which is no fun really - purely because they just didn't get the chance to pick enough batsmen. One or two people will be ok, but that's mainly because the draw favoured them. I realise that there are downsides to changing the rules as we go along, but it's to deal with a problem that has only fully been appreciated as the process has unfolded, and it's probably the lesser of two evils. It's also not as though people are going to be picking Bradman or Hammond in round 12 either, it would just allow a bit more balance to people's teams.

I do feel bad for having not thought out the format fully before we started. I don't blame people for losing interest for no fault of theirs; the format is far too restrictive. I have no problems with implementing your suggestion.

As someone with one batsman from my first ten (is it ten?) picks, I'd be glad to have an unrestricted selection, but not fussed either way.

There are some players who didn't select a batsman in round 1 or 2, in spite of getting the chance. They shouldn't complain at least.

Anyways this is not such an important thing for which I'll fight and make enemies in this beautiful place (CW). While I agree that this format is too much dependant on luck, I feel that the rules shouldn't change midway. This is my personal opinion, and I'll prefer going with the majority opinion over leaving the draft midway myself.
