Saker rates attack as good as great Australians

GIMHby the temerity to associate the two is crime enough

stats blah blah he will probably average 23 and 25 and 27 and a 34 and be done with whatever average 29 or something. He will be remembered as an outstanding example of a bowler who could swing the ball at pace in either direction at will, and was a massive part of getting England to be the best team in cricket for a bloody long time.

But he, and more importantly the entire pommy attack needs to do a hell of a lot more to invite comparisons yet. laughable!
Name me one bowler who swings it both ways at will, at 140km plus, and has 200+ Test wickets. Go on.

hahahaha is that all?

Jimmy Anderson;
Shall I compare thee to a passing shower?
Thou art more brief and more dreary.
Soft quads do make comparisons sour.

and so on

What does that have to do with comparing him to the Aussie attack though?

England don't have a 155km bowler or a leggie like Australia did but so what?

Surely comparisons can only be made based on results, both team-wise and individually.

Jimmy Anderson can swing it both ways at 140km and has 267 wickets at 30.05.
Glenn McGrath did less with the ball, at a slower pace and got 563 wickets at 21.64.

Again, I don't care about Anderson's overall stats. It's what he is now. We can all be more analytical than dialing up Cricinfo's numbers

He'll be 30 in July. This is a big if, but if he bowls like this for another 4 years he could end up with 450 wickets.

Agreed with Vic, can't remember the last time Jimmy hit 140km/h. A perfect comparison for him would be Steyn, only Steyn is much faster and angrier.

Anderson is nowhere close to what McGrath, Gillespie and Brett Lee had been in their pomp.

Ah, getting my maths messed up a bit. Be around 87 I'd guess.

EDIT: yeah basically 87. He probably gets up and around it, but it's like saying that Steyn is a 150km/h bowler. They touch those heights rarely, and operate mainly in a bracket below that.

Yes but when he retires, he will be judged on his overall stats and not on the good run he has had in the last few years.
