**Official** West Indies in England 2012

Tino Best drafted into the squad. Clearly an injury to one of the bowlers.
Is it for Gabriel or Sammy? i hope it's for Sammy but the whispers are it's Gabriel!! :( ,

I really can't understand why the feck they are calling that idiot up when the likes of Mcclean, Pascal, Carlos Brathwaite and especially Holder have been much better than him lately!!..i guess the coach wants to stick with the status quo as usual!! :blue_band .

And he averaged in the 50s before the 1st test and it’s likely to be sub 40 if he plays to type in the second. He isn’t a number three and looks technically very short and even when amassing runs against India and Bangladesh looked pretty limited. Reminds me a bit of Runako Morton actually.
Oh give him a break!!!..the guy just came back from injury which forced him out of the last two test vs Australia and now he's in conditions that he isn't used to, if he doesn't deliver in the next test then fair enough but right now he stays imo.

Agreed. Kirk Edwards looks like he's got a bit of talent, I watched his debut century and I was impressed and very hopeful. These English conditions are always going to be hard to adapt to at the beginning, so here's hoping he can manage.

His technique just didn't quite look up to it in the first test - regardless of how good he might be in the WI, Australia or the Subcontinent, the footwork isn't quite there for English conditions.

Its the same problem I expect Gayle to have in, at the least, his first few months back - adjusting to playing on tracks that support sideways movement, and require the batsman to move their feet more.

I don't think Gabriel was that good that you'd have him in the team in front of Sammy. Was pretty uninspiring.
This is the thing- Sammy's limited, but there's almost always at least one worse bowler in the team.

Might have to do with Best already being in England, and other options not?
Best has forced his way back into contention with consistent performances in the regional four-day competition in the Caribbean where he picked up 17 wickets at 20.64 during the 2011-12 season. He is due to arrive in England on Wednesday.

Durham's Ruel Brathwaite not an option?

That vand Tino has played in England before.

If Gayle does turn up for the test at Trent Bridge I can't see him doing much, wicket that moves, Jimmy's top ground and he's spent how long facing nothing bowlers and pitches that do nothing?

Yep and ignoring spinners the only time Sammy isn't the second best seamer is when Rampaul AND Roach are both fit and playing. And until recently neither of those two were particularly clever. Sammy balances Roach out anyway. Sammy is also a better batsman and fielder than most bowlers.

It's a ****ing joke so-called Windies fans are constantly banging on about how Sammy should be dropped, then in the same sentence going on about Pollard and Russell for Test cricket. Or some unknown domestic bowler who's torn it up on the 200 plays 150 pitches, ala Shillingford. It's amazing the inflation West Indies players have when they're not playing for their national side. I mean Gayle has basically become god since he ****ed off. Then you have the 'danger' factor of bowlers. Apparently Russell and many others are much more dangerous than Sammy. I see, so Test cricket is about your killing potential now is it? Bowl gun barrel high 80s with crap line and length and it will be you that gets murdered in Test cricket.

Congrats England fans for the win.

Happy days with England winning and "Tim Malcolm Lara Bresnan" being shown a glimpse of his true average with bat and ball (30 plus with the ball and under 20 with the bat).
While you may have a point with his bowling average there's no way in hell Bresnan will average below 20 with the bat.

Cook and Bell batted extremely well today but the Windies just gave them too many easy runs

Sides with talent AND experience would've strangled them and drawn it out to the death
Better bowling attacks would've done better. Revolutionary idea that.
