Would Stuart Broad make the world's strongest XI?

Jono

Virat Kohli (c)
Broad is a very very very good cricketer. Would make my World XI as it stands.

Would make my "biggest ****s XI" too. Would be co-captain with Kohliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

Can't believe people are picking Philander for a world X! off the back of just 7 matches. You'd have to at least see him getting wickets against some better batting line-ups than he's played against so far. And Broad's last 7 matches see him averaging ~19 anyway, so it's not a million miles away from Philander.

My world XI now would probably be as follows:

Graeme Smith*
Alastair Cook
Younis Khan
Jacques Kallis
Shinarine Chanderpaul
AB De Villiers
Matt Prior+
Stuart Broad
Dale Steyn
Saeed Ajmal
James Anderson

Hmm if we were talking about batsmen I'd be inclined to agree, but I don't think you need to put top-class batsmen 22 yards away to judge how good a bowler is. Apart from the fact that it looks, sounds and smells like world-class bowling, he's been causing far more problems than Steyn or Morkel.

I'd say he needs to keep it up a while longer though.

Yeah agreed. Bowlers are far easier to judge by eye than batsmen, where runs are really the only currency that matters.

Yeah, I'm not trying to do him down, he looks very good. It's just I'd think he needs to perform for a bit longer to be in a world XI.

I agree to some extent about not needing to bowl at top-class batsmen, but the proof of whether he is world class will be answered more definitively then. After all you can look as good as you want, but you still need to get those guys out - and for top class batsmen that requires more mental strength too IMO.

that he averages 19 odd after 80 FC games makes it easier to throw him into a world XI after 7 tests too. It's not like James Pattinson who didn't even have a 5 wicket haul at FC level before his test debut. there's less doubt.

Jono's always admitted that Kohli's a **** tbf.

Lol, no Michael Clarke. Always good for a laugh.

Broad isn't even close tbh. Way too slimline for a tall guy.

Strongest XI

Gayle
Smith (c)
Watson
Kallis
Ryder
Pollard
Boucher (wk)
Oram
Pattinson
Tremlett
Harris

Some issues with the side. Some of them may be strong but are still soft as **** (see Watson). Others I'm assuming are strong just cause they're fat, which is silly. Also the side lacks a spinner.

Broad was 7th before this match. Wouldn't put too much stock in rankings at any given point in time, especially given Clarke was top ranked a month and a half ago.
