Yeah, takes a tremendous amount of skill and technique to do that. May have been a hint of good fortune about it I suppose, because even the best players could only pull that off one or two times out of ten, but I don't think there's any doubt that he meant it.

Surely looking better does make it a better goal? I mean, they all count for the same, so we're really only judging them as pieces of art.

Haha it absolutely does make it a better goal. That is so ridiculously hard to execute, which is why you see thunderbolts go in a lot more than a strike like that. It was awesome and should just be appreciated tbh.
It's hard to execute if you're hitting a hard shot with that technique and need to hit the top/bottom corner, but not particularly difficult if it's a lob where the horizontal direction has a high margin of error - it's all about the weight of the lob. He didn't get the weight of the lob spot on and Cech should have saved it - which devalues things considerably from a 'goal of the season' perspective.

People calling it a wonder goal need to get a grip of themselves. Matt Le Tissier scored half a dozen better goals per season.

Was thinking a few weeks back that Cisse was the new Andy Cole as like Under Cole, Cisse isn't a a very good footballer (Ba is) but Cisse's strikes over the past couple of weeks have been goals which Andrew even in pomp didn't quite manager.

Yeah, I'd definitely go along with this. I remember watching his debut and thinking that he just didn't look/move/have the mindset of a top footballer, but some of his strikes since (in fact most of them actually) have been really impressive.

Yeah, put me in the "wrong about Cisse" camp too, I thought after watching him he was just bought as a mate of Ba's, who he's now eclipsing.

Hmm think Cisse's goals are rather over-rated. People banging on about them both being goal of the season. The second one is essentially a lob that Cech bollocksed up, he should have saved it but moved like an Indian wicket-keeper and ended up just finger-tipping it into the net. The fact he curled it with the outside of the boot doesn't make it a better goal, it just looks better. The first one is probably the better of the two if he meant it. Neither should be goal of the season.

They were awesome goals. The ball curled so much it was almost impossible to predict where it would end up. The first one reminded me of Henry.

Bloody Newcastle gave us Carroll and got Ba and Cisse for less than a third of his cost. Fuming.

You mean his debut where he scored an absolute bomb on the half-volley from outside the area?

Gonna say it, think Cisse's 2nd was a fluke. Reckon he's gone to belt it in the top left, sliced it, and its managed to take it in the top right. Bit like a golfer smacking a tree and bouncing within 5 yards of the pin. But hey, don't buy a ticket you don't win the raffle.

First was a belter though. Loved his lob against Swansea too.

Don't quite agree. They all count the same but some goals come out of apparently nothing and some goals don't. Hence I normally just think the best goals are those that come out of nothing, because they are most 'difficult' (for want of a slightly better word but can't think what that word is). Not that Cisse's goals (particularly the 2nd) didn't come out of nothing of course.

I agree with TT Boy that Cisse (probably) isn't actually a very good footballer (in terms of what he adds to the side in general play), he just scores a lot of goals. I always thought that at Freiburg anyway, that's not been the case at Newcastle thus far however. Time will tell whether he's improved or having a run of very good form.

I took UCs comment to mean that how good a goal looks should be taken into account when judging it among other factors. Not to say it's the only thing that should be taken into account though.
