Asked my mom to name five non Indian cricketers off the top of her head, she said in this order: Marshall, Merv Hughes (?), Gatting (?), Border, Miandad....

Not quite what I expected. But she watched cricket in the 80s and early nineties before we moved here so it makes sense that it's 80s heavy. Still...wtf?
I asked her to name the first Indian player she could think of, and she said Chetan Sharma.

So that explains Miandad at least - that incident has been seared into the collective psyche.

Doubt my mother could name any non-English cricketers to be honest. Apart from Kevin Pietersen that is , lololol.

Although..............while I know my dad had a moustache when I was young, I'm not sure if he did when they met or first got married.

His best friend did though. :-O

I just asked my fiancee who is a kiwi.

She immediately started saying Hadlee, Vettori, Parore but I made her not include NZ players. So her 5 were: Don Bradman, Shane Warne, Michael Clarke, Kevin Pietersen and Andrew Symonds.

The last 3 were described as Mr Bingle, hotness Pietersen and monkey before she said their real names.

I called my ex girlfriend and asked her to name 5 of her favorite cricketers. She called me a creep, told me to **** off and hung up.

You should all disclose the phone numbers of your girl-friends so that we may decide whether or not to place a peanuts worth of value on their opinions.

I asked my wife and she named Tendulkar, Kohli, Yuvraj, Zaheer and Dhoni as her 5 favorite cricketers - makes sense because 2011 WC win is perhaps the only thing she knows about cricket...

I asked my girl (who knows a fair bit about cricket) and she picked Imran Khan, Brett Lee, ABdeV, Zaheer Khan and Shane Watson.

On reflection, I am beginning to suspect that cricket skills weren't her only considerations!

So, what will be the general reaction when (and if) smali announces Bradman @ no. 2?

People will claim that is the only inappropriate result in the whole list because of strategic voting, and Bradman is the only cricketer in the whole list (and outside) to be affected by strategic voting. They'll also claim that if you just inter-change Bradman and Sobers in the list, it'll be a 100% accurate representation of what CW thinks

Nah, I'll just think you're wrong. But if Sobers is number one, I think I'l still get out of bed the next day because well, so ****ing what?
