Pretty sure Steyn's performances in India are brought up quite often tbh... that 7-fer at Nagpur has become sort of legendary already. His 2008 UAE tour needs to be put in context. An "average" of any sort over 2 matches is comepletely meaningless coz he's probably had other 'stretches' of averaging 40+ over 2 matches in other nations as well..^^But surely you can never have too much of a good thing? Why have McGrath and Marshall when you can have Marshalls from both ends?
I'll see how Anderson and Broad go in India. Steyn has bowled a couple of matchwinning turns on India soil but that's never brought up while discussing his lack of impact in the desert.
Oh so now it's they have to prove themselves in India now. before it was the subcontinent.^^But surely you can never have too much of a good thing? Why have McGrath and Marshall when you can have Marshalls from both ends?

No mate it was Nov 2010 the tour of UAE. AB hit 278 off 418, Kallis hit a speedy ton for him 105 off 147.Pretty sure Steyn's performances in India are brought up quite often tbh... that 7-fer at Nagpur has become sort of legendary already. and seriously the pitches were ridiculously flat, IIRC wasnt that the series in which devilliers smashed 270 odd in no time? On the other hand, the Nagpur pitch was equally, if not even flatter... amla got 250 of the easiest runs ever, and steyn destroyed the indian lineup. To bring up the UAE tour as some sort of shortcoming on steyns part is silly.
Oh come on, Steyn & Jimmy opening together with a bit of life in the pitch, ***y ***y stuff, would love to see that.I just like a variety in my attack which is why I wouldn't have Steyn and Anderson in my team together.
Good swing bowlers have always done well in India. Anderson's already had some success previously in India I think - haven't looked at his figures. It was a seam bowler like Broad I wasn't sure about. But the way he bowled in the UAE, I think he'll do very well too (unless he reverts back pre July '11).I'll see how Anderson and Broad go in India. Steyn has bowled a couple of matchwinning turns on India soil but that's never brought up while discussing his lack of impact in the desert.
Steyn's two tests in UAE is often brought up by a group of people because there's almost nothing else for them to point out.Pretty sure Steyn's performances in India are brought up quite often tbh... that 7-fer at Nagpur has become sort of legendary already. I thought Waqar was a natural Inswing bowler. Maybe I was wrong.@AN
As I recall with the new ball Waqar bowled outswing though - it was only when the ball, er, got scuffed up that he would move it the other way
Only by my recollection though and I'm probably wrong as usual
you just wanted to say you like waqar better... no?I prefer the new ball swinging inwards rather than out. So personally would always prefer to watch someone like Waqar than Steyn or Anderson. Plus no one swing it more than Waqar.
Yeah he was, but only because he was a natural reverse swing bowler. He got most of his wickets with inswing, getting the older ball to reverse. But with the new ball he bowled outswing. That's how I remember it anyway.I thought Waqar was a natural Inswing bowler. Maybe I was wrong.
