The better comparison with Sami is probably Agarkar.

Both played international cricket successfully, underachieving for their potential.
Both are still playing. Both are nowhere in the selectors' horizon but both still hold out hope for playing for their country some day again.

Agarkar has 288 wickets in 191 ODIs. Those are pretty awesome figures. We extracted fair mileage out of him in ODIs at least. Not to mention, he won us the Adelaide Test in '03 with his six-fer in the second innings.

Ah, yes... the one notable thing agarkar did, and it was something truly special. 6 fer against one of the best batting lineups of all time to give us the first win in Oz in two decades! just epic.

Sami any day. I'll pick three proper bowlers, batting all rounder and Sami than picking Ishant on same team. If he bowls ****, then there are others to cover him. f he gets it right, he'll win me the match. Ishant's worse is much better than Sami's worse, and his best is far inferior than Sami's best. Sami bowls a brillioant spell one in ten times and utter **** in other times. Ishants is generally **** all over the ten innings.

is it only me or other people find it difficult to digest the fact that Sami averaged 52? after following his career and watching him getting beat up, I still can't believe someone like him can average 52.

FFS this is dire. The guy averages 50-whatever because he was pretty damn consistently ****. Thought nostalgia was reserved for players who were actually kind of good.

true....but I guess it is easy to forget the ****ness when he hasn't been around for so long and still bowls 150 km/h in domestic cricket

lol....true.....52 is a mind bogglingly bad average......

despite his ****ness how the hell did he manage to average 52? He had all the tools required to succeed.

Ishant is going to have a renaissance to end all renaisannces, to make Michaelangelo turn his bones. Best get on the bandwagon now.

Lol so true. It's stupid.

The bloke bowled half-volleys all day everyday.

Ishant is well ahead as a test bowler. One of the more perplexing cases of the decade. He always seems to bowl okish but never good enough to get a lot of wickets consistently. The problem lies in his action. His head falls away too much at the time of release. Time is on his side and hopefully he will come back a better bowler.

Both Sami and Ishant are incredibly perplexing cases.
