Because he was bowling to non-Indian batsmen.

For goodness' sake, Warne got slaughtered on Indian decks against Indian batsmen. It means nothing.

Is it just me, or is dissecting the Test statistics of two bowlers who have played ten Tests each bordering on the ridiculous? I mean ten Tests is a pretty rubbish sample already without splitting it up further into different countries and conditions.

Ind33d.

Really, there's not much to go on other than looking (ie. with eyes) how they've actually bowled, and it's a close run thing on that front.

In any case the difference between them as bowlers is vastly outweighed by the fact that Lyon will be bowling to Chanderpaul, Bravo and Deonarine, whilst the other will be bowling to Ponting, Clarke, Hussey. Know which one I'd prefer to be bowling against.

So Bishoo has been bowling in spin friendly conditions and Lyon has not and even though Lyon has been more successful.
So you think Lyon would do well in India?

Let me list the test series Bishoo has played thus far

Debut vs Pakistan (who are unbeaten for the past year)

Second series vs India (they were ranked number one at the time)

Third series vs Bang away

Fourth series vs India AWAY (before they played Australia)

The only series he didn't do well in was the india away one, which is nothing to be ashamed of considering the amount of quality spinners down the years who haven't done well there,

Whats interesting though is he's only faced sub-continent opposition thus far who are arguably some of the better players of spin, and still he done well enough to be named the 'emerging player of the year' .

Actually i'd say our best three batsmen are Chanders, Bravo and Edwards... :D , and to be honest i don't think it works like that, while Ajmal and Co toyed with world number one England we managed to draw with them with statistically lower rated batsmen, so anything can happen at the end of the day.

I'm still struggling to find where WI have the "advantage" with Bishoo.

I didn't say we have the advantage!!, i just disputed your claim that Australia are the better side against spin!!..your lot haven't been tested in tough spin conditions like we have of late, so when Australia are then we can compare,

As for Bishoo and Lyon, well i'll be honest i do think Bishy is much better, but that doesn't matter anyway because we've got a fella named Narine who is better than both of them and has the potential to be an absolute legend :D .

That was three years ago though, not particularly relevant.

I'd agree that those are your best batsmen but I was doing a direct middle-order comparison (where the ability to play spin is most important).

It does seem like it's been forever, but that's probably because we've had ****all to talk about.
