Most times I make one, Chappell makes my all time XI.

Waugh, Ponting, Border in that order as batsmen though, I think. But while I am too young to remember Border, I definitely think he gets overlooked. If I have a side that's trying to build, or a younger side, or one which I am looking to instill a sense of professionalism, hard work, etc, he would be first on my list.

Really? I think Ponting is easily a better batsman than either Waugh or Border.

Yea I did watch Waugh and maybe because I was a kid so I can't rule out that it might be more of a romanticization of him rather than an objective rating. Players are always better in your childhood.

Btw started a professional XI thread, would like your opinions.

haha.....yeah....Waugh does get rated because of his toughness....surprised to see him beat border

Had Greame Pollock at 18 and Greg Chappell at 22 from this lot. Surprised that both ended up this low. What this means is that Ponting, Waugh and Border are all ahead of Chappell! Wouldn't agree with that assessment. G Pollock's falling stocks are sad, he is my favorite batsman of all time.

Also does Holding get slightly overrated? It's difficult to see how a fast bowling all rounder like Shaun who lasted much longer is not comfortably ahead of him.

All champion cricketers at the end though.

And yes, Kohli the new Border.

Ask any international cricketer who they would prefer to play against, Holding or Pollock, S. And I don't mean in terms of physical fear, I mean in terms of influencing the game.

Kohli is the closer to the new Kambli than he is the new Border.

Nah, no major surprises among those 10 unlike what Smali promised!

Voted for Border and Chappell among these 10.

All these blokes are either in or just outside my top 50, but again none made my 25. Will be keen to see if all of my 25 are in the remaining 30, or if I've got a few who missed out completely.

tbh I had missed him out completely

In my first edit I sent Miller in because I had missed him out too but couldn't be bothered for the 2nd edit to include Chappell :p

For me Chappell was 8th specialist batsman behind Bradman, Viv Richards, Tendulkar, Hobbs, G Pollock, Lara, Hammond. (not counting Sobers and Grace as specialists)
