Be that as it may, it counts for very little when you've thrown away a 2 goal advantage with less than quarter of an hour to go against a team which is hardly full of worldbeaters.
Sure, but it doesn't mean we were "cack".

Well, you can say whatever you like about how well you've played and so on. But it's all rhetoric. The truth is that team has won 2 of its last 10 matches, is only 3 points ahead of Swansea and has no hope of achieving a Champions League place. Given the level of investment the team has received over the last 12 months, the overall payoff has been cack, undoubtedly.

Meh, they won a trophy, which is more than your manager has for ages, that will bide him over until at least this time next year. Using the swansea thing is a tad silly too, they've been brilliant, ask citeh.

Yeah, but you know full well I wouldn't swap 4th place (or higher) for a Carling Cup win. If the positions of Arsenal and Liverpool were reversed I doubt you'd find any Livepool fans who would either.

And yeah, fair enough, Swansea have been good. Let's say instead that they're 5 points ahead of Sunderland, who until O'Neil took over were pretty much written off.

What are you on about? Your quote stated that Liverpool played badly against QPR. That's not an accurate summary, so I disagreed with it. Why are you now analysing our season?

Being defeated after being 2 goals up with 15 mins left on the clock is in no way good though is it? Not only that, but the defending that lead to the goals conceded was awful.

You may well have played well for most of the match, but harping on about it is like failing an exam and boasting about how well you answered some of the questions.

The reason why I mentioned the rest of Liverpool's season is because there are plenty of games from which they can be said to have played well for about 60 minutes or whatever, but when they've won 2 out of 10 it's clear that despite the partially good performances, something is going terribly awry.

I'm not harping on about it, I'm disagreeing with a comment. There are some matches where we have been dreadful (Sunderland most recently) where I feel such a comment would have been justified, but to summarise our game against QPR as "cack" is blatantly incorrect, when we played wonderful football for the majority.

Did you watch the game?

I interpreted his original comment to be a comment on the side in general tbf
If that's the case then nvm.

Throwing away a 2 goal lead and being defeated in a match in which there are only 15 minutes left to play, is cack. This is all I am suggesting.

As I have said previously, playing "wonderful football" for the majority is meaningless if you repeatedly fail to get the results you ought to. I'm not suggesting that Liverpool did not play "wonderful football" for the majority of this match, but this doesn't mask the fact that the result and the overall performance of the team over the course of the season, was/has been cack.

We dominated the game, but Hendo/Skrtel/Enrique all had brain farts that lead to goals (good play from QPR not forgotten). Their individual errors were costly, but overall, I'm not massively unhappy with the game, considering our style of football was encouraging, which is something that hasn't been present for most of the season.

While I agree that the result is not acceptable, we actually played very well for 70+ minutes, which (seemingly) will be completely overlooked because of some key individual defensive errors.

Again, I'm not sure why you keep bringing up our season as a whole, because we can all agree that our football in the Premier League has largely been devoid of aesthetics or results.

Yeah, fair shout. Sorry, may have been even more argumentative than usual. Had a bit of a grouchy day.
I'm sure playing Champions League while we struggle against AEK Moscovic Lisbencia in Europa will cheer you up. :)

Losing 3-2 having been 2-0 up with fifteen minutes left to a team as ****e as QPR definitely counts as a cack performance. Actually cack isn't really a strong enough word, I've never been a fan of that word. I think the word to describe Liverpool's performance is pahahahahahaha

Sold their two best centre halves, third got injured and they started keeping clean sheets. Weird. Helps that Salgado and Givet are not stinking up the place no more.
Bolton game is massive, as United are up next at home. Win the local derby and Rovers may have enough points already to avoid the drop. As said, if QPR lost yesterday, you just couldn’t see them doing much as their run in is so tough.

Even if Blackburn avoid the drop, news that they are struggling to make transfer payments to clubs and are not playing players like Salgado not for footballing reasons but for financial reasons is a real worry. Doesn't seem sustainable.
Hanley has been magnificent, and along with some solid improvement from Dann we've finally got a solid CB pairing. The new Olsson has been very good and Wolves and Sunderland were largely rubbish. Still think right back is a weakness though, Wolves ripped us a new one down that side. Lowe was better against Sunderland I guess.

Individual quality doesn't make much of a difference to how well a team defends anyway. It's mostly tied up in collective things like how well they press, organise themselves for set pieces, keep the ball when they're winning etc.

True, but not making horrible individual mistakes comes in handy as well, admittedly players of all levels of talent are prone to doing that.
