Auction Draft - Simple Format

weldone, you might want to introduce a minimum bid increase in order to stop people outbidding each other without really increasing the amount. It rather stops the auction moving forward if we keep adding one to a six-digit amount.

I'm not sure it stops the auction moving forwards so much as it clogs up the thread. But yeah, I agree.

Damn, I am never impulse bidding just because I am bored in a lecture again. Ah well, Miandad is a legend regardless! Pass on Walsh though

I think Miandad went quite cheaply in the end. Didn't spend the evening anywhere near the PC so couldn't bid more.

Walsh - $1,520,000

The fact that I am also not stopping anyone from adding 10,000,000 to the six-digit amount only adds to the strategy of the game IMO. In essence, if you want a player too badly and don't want people to cross you by USD 1 to grab that player, make your initial bid so high that people dare not touch it! It's a trade-off between risk and return.

Also I don't want to rule out the possibility of getting a player for a USD 1 bid (not USD 1 increase), just for fun's sake.

That's a valid point. But so far I don't think this thread has become messy because of that reason. Once such a problem comes, we'll see.

weldone what is your definition of a dud?

Is someone like Sanjay Manjrekar 2000 runs @ 37, seen as a dud or how about Mark Waugh 8000 @ 41?

My definition of a dud is a Tapash Baisya or a Devang Gandhi :)

I am guessing he is working out of the CMJ list padded up with wicketkeepers
I am not necessarily listing the 120 best players ever or something, as I said before. And for 100 best players of all-time, I strongly dislike CMJ's list FTR.

When you think about it, roughly 10% of your budget for the best ever batsman from Pakistan is pretty good!
