Wait hang on:

A win for Bangladesh, with or without a bonus point, means that they are through, so India get knocked out. Therefore, Bangladesh need nothing less than a win. Sri Lanka are out so they will play for pride.
Why do B-desh make it if they win without a bonus point again? Whatever happened to NRR?

Duh. There was no Dravid in that game :p It was Ganguly and Robin Singh.

Edit: Meant to quote Smali
whatever....I was doubtful about Dravid but went ahead with his name in any case :p

my lasting memories of that match are Tendy making an explosive 40 odd at the top of the order and then Ganguly toying with Aqib Javed and Saqlain mushtaq

Points Table | Asia Cup | ESPN Cricinfo

In the event of teams finishing on equal points, the right to play in the final match or series will be determined as follows:

The team with the most number of wins
If still equal, the team with the most number of wins over the other team(s) who are equal on points and have the same number of wins
If still equal, the team with the highest number of bonus points
If still equal, the team with the highest net run rate

what? India had chased 321 in 36 overs in hobart?
Yeah. Where were you?

Why have they introduced this stupid rule? It was the same with the Tri-series in Australia.
Yeah never been fan of this rule. Exactly what happened in WC 99 semi final tie. They are effectively going to ignore that India beat the table topper Pakistan while Bangladesh didn't. If Pakistan had not collected the bonus point, there would've been 3 way tie and NRR would've come into picture.

I like the head-to-head rule. Preference for NRR had the unfortunate effect that teams could opt to bat for the NRR instead of going all out and risking the collapse while chasing huge totals.

That goes both ways though. If your chasing a high target then you have to play even faster to better your NRR, making it all the more challenging. And its even more difficult if your defending a score. I mean if your going to take out NRR then why have the bonus point? The bonus point works in a similar manner.
