At a minimum you expect them to hit the pitch a little more often than last evening. A looot of full tosses from what I saw.

yep, you can't expect to bowl loads of full tosses at the death and hope to get away with it (some extras there too)

More concerning however would be the fact that in the WC there was a pattern of Tendulkar scores 100 ---> rest of team switch off, either in batting, bowling or often both, and India lose/fail to win a match they really should have. Not Sachin's fault at all ofc but it does raise a potential discipline/concentration issue if so.
Yeah, it's a pattern that has manifested for so long, it's cliche.

Yeah and that unfortunately gives Tendulkar critics to blame him even when he has played great knocks (like the hundreds against England and SA last world, both of them were as good as any knocks he has played)

It's pretty weird. He's done his job, why can't the other ****s do theirs?

The more I think about it the more it looks as if it's as if Sachin scores a century means they'll almost certainly win because it's Sachin (as if a century from him is innately more valuable than one from Kohli or Gambhir) and hence they don't have to do as much work. It's as if the hype has got to them as well.

But you see, the number of people praising him outnumber the number of critics, so you owe it to yourself to behave like a whiny bitch and criticise him anyway.

Just to clarify, I'm very much with the above consensus re Tendulkar on most things.

The thing that angered me about yesterday was our team deciding what was a par score. The fact was there were 20 to 30 runs for the taking and we did not go forward with it not because we were inadequate but rather because we discounted the possibility of them going that far.

if pakistani team doesn't score against a bowling attack consist of dinda.. pathan.. jadeja..ashiwin... vinay and parveen kumars.. it will be a shame.. infact, I want all the batsman.. dropped..

this is the most ordinary bowling line up i have ever seen from a test playing side..

Whatever it takes!!!
But HB what exactly is an above par total then? And with this approach don't you think that no total would be above par?

I can understand your POV regarding India playing to their strengths but you have to draw a line for a minimum quality with the bowling
No, but you make a better effort to get more runs, at least..

I don't believe this.. some people are blaming sachin for this.. face it.. you had an score of 290 runs to defend against an ordinary team.. it is time that indians admit that they have the worst bowling attack in the world without zaheer khan.. guys like ashok dinda.. vinay kumar and irfan pathan I don't even want to play them in my worst club XI.

Your post makes no sense. Criticising someone in order to 'balance out' the people praising him is what registers highly on the irrationality meter.
except that I am not doing that. I have criticized him whenever I have felt there has been room for criticism in his performance, like this one..... Its simple.

So honestly, it is just as hard to find sense in your post.

dude.....tbh I don't really rate the Pak batting much higher than the Indian bowling so don't expect much....you might have forgotten the ODIs against England already

Indian attacks of the 90s with the kuruvillas, and the mohantys?

Cricinfo Match Report said:
Defeat would have been the last thing on India's minds when, after a year of hype and expectation, Tendulkar got his 100th international century in the country where he had equalled Sunil Gavaskar's then-record 34 Test centuries in 2004 on way to his highest Test score. It wasn't one of Tendulkar's better hundreds and will ultimately be remembered only for being the one that brought up the unprecedented landmark. In fact, it was his second-slowest innings of 100-plus in ODIs and ended up restricting India's progress. They ended up on 289 for 5, an underwhelming outcome considering their power-packed batting line-up had had a platform of 173 for 1 in the 36th over.

If the cricinfo match reporter could see it.......

HB, from the way you're still on about it, it appears that you're deeply affected. My post still stands. Your conduct in the congratulatory thread, more specifically your mention of irrelevant points like FB and cricinfo comments and the irrational need to 'balance out' the praise being heaped elsewhere is the main issue. This is not a new phenomenon on CW, and neither is it restricted solely to yourself.
