anyway nice to see Copeland in the wickets. However it's probably the weakest batting line-up he's bowled to for awhile so uh.

One thing not mentioned in that cap hit post is the impact of separate BigBash contracts. SOK for example might accept less from NSW - so medium-high - if he gets more in the BigBash.

edit
Over 39.1: Smith to Lynn, no run, OUT, full toss lofted straight down the throat of Phil Hughes at deep mid wicket

heroic

Lynn and Maddinson seem to have both fallen in the same crater marked second season syndrome. ****ing horrendous seasons for both of them when they promised so much last year.

Happy for Copes too, but **** it's been a long lean trot.

This is Lynn's third season :p

But obviously injury has wrecked with the season a bit so it's hard to be too rough with him. Maddinson doing a very good job of marketing himself as a flat track bully. he might not be, but he's not disproving it. so that's concerning. Lynn for comparison has so far scored the bulk of his runs in the 2nd innings, which is a bit odd.

Also, Victoria are the ones after Hughes So what would happen to Rogers?

Na, the problem is he isn't really marketing himself as anything atm, other than a mediocre player. He just needs more time. Pretty confident he'll be a very good prospect in a year or two.

Will Sheridan has taken 5 wickets in 19 balls.

How did we let WA score 800 against us

edit meanwhile the usual QLD tail wag has started

Has Peter Nevill got the ability to improve his limited overs record? Because maybe he would want to play some List A to help develop his overall game and it seemed Dan Smith was given the gloves in the List A games for NSW ahead of him where at WA he will get the gig for all forms?

Yep. So far he's underachieved. Possibly in part because he doesn't how to play his role. I'm pretty sure Nev was the keeper in all our List A games this season anyway. To clarify, Nev was the keeper to start off with, and then one game we were down so many players to an extent D. Smith got in as a batsman, who then hit 185*, so obviously when you do that you've got your spot for the next few games, but during this time we played both of them iirc, and now Smith is back out.

If anything, his spot if more safe at NSW than WA. We've literally got no other keepers. Assuming Haddin retires when he loses his contract there's no-one else here. Whereas WA at least have a couple of prospects who could pressure Nev

I'd be shocked if Nev. I just....I will literally go down to the SCG and burn it down if they let him go.

 Haha Cheers mate. Yeah, you lads seem to all rate him highly, at one stage Prince was saying he could push for a test place purely on his batting. Sure maybe a bit tongue and cheek but it meant nothing negative about his ability with the bat but maybe the lack of depth of quality young batsman around.

Its an unfortunate situation NSW are finding themselves in but I suppose most of the players would want to stay at the blues and its just a case of who NSW's hierarchy want to keep then. I think some of the senior statsman moving on ie Kat,Jaques,Clark, maybe Rohrer/Haddin will also help the ability to work to the required salary cap more easily.

If the Test side was picked purely on performance and we ignored the older blacklisted players like Katich and Rogers, he'd probably be about the third or fourth reserve batsman currently. You're right though; it says more about the lack of batting depth in the country at present than it does about him.

Surely if Jaques had have known that two thirds of the decent batsmen in NSW were leaving the state he might have decided to stay on. But perhaps he's lost the desire to try and push for an Australian spot again.

Stupid move from CA IMO.
Did you read the article?

The MOU hasn't been finalised yet so there is no idea how many state / national contracts are up for grabs, so how could negotiations be done properly without it? Pretty common sense really.

yeah pretty sane really.

and on that matter, katich may have played his last game for NSW: "Lalor replaces Simon Katich, who has had to leave the side due to a family matter."

Surprising twelfth man call from Victoria - Carters. Handscomb has already dropped a sitter as wicket keeper.

Absolutely stoked for Dawson though.
