Yeah I blame JL for Khawaja's short comings.

It might not actually be JL, but I get the feeling that Khawaja has been over coached and is thinking about the process of batting rather than actually batting. Hughes looked far more likely even early on so I'm not surprised at all to see him make runs.


Howard - Fergo has a broken thumb. He had it before the Final of the OD's, but played through pain. Is resting it now and may be out for the remainder of the season.

I tip Ben Rohrer to be captain next summer.

SOK to lose his state deal? Fat chance of that happening, he's still a damn good left arm spinner, well ahead of any other in NSW.

You're kidding if you actually think he could go from NSW captain and Australian T20 player to Sydney Grade in under a year, especially given he's one of very, very few Australian spinners to average < 30.

I went down to the SCG with knife in hand and everything, ready to gut the first person I saw in a suit, but we picked more or less the right team. Pretty disappointing really. I mean, Maddinson was a wrong selection. Person who sucked all season, and does nothing to regain his spot but gets picked anyway and then failing is hardly a shock. But apart from that.

Why isn't Ferguson playing?

The Australian and Cricinfo has already done articles,suggesting Kurt Patterson and Maddison should move interstate.

Money on Katich going to WA sounds like a done deal,wouldn't surpise me if Brandon Drew goes to the Redbacks after playing for the Adelaide Strikers.(there was talk earlier this summer).

All this doesn't mean **** if the same selection committee and etc stays in place.

And if the same **** stay in place SOK ain't losing the C. They'll stick by him, and if Hauritz leaves, there's even less incentive to change. Even if Luke Doran is already a better OD spinner. And there's more chance of Rohrer captaining SA next summer than NSW. He'll def lose the VC. Smith or Nev to take that on.

No chance NSW will let Patterson slip out of their hands, he'll probably get the Maddinson treatment and have a secure spot all next season and he'll stay. Will def happen if Katich leaves. With Maddinson, it's worth noting his two hundreds came at Adl. Oval and at Blacktown sports park in a match Hauritz also tonned up in, and his next top score came at Bankstown against SA. He's not doing a very good job of convincing me he should stay.

Smith and Nevill probably the big ones for me to keep on. Don't care about Maddinson. Katich can do whatever he wants and I'll accept it. Usman and Hughes may well have to move elsewhere to kick start their careers again. Although I'd be sad to lose the Prince. Very much doubt Bollinger would move. Hauritz has to 'cause of SOK.

Our talent line is good but jeez that would be pushing it if we lose even 50% of those youngsters.

Maddinson - meh. Could be a very good player in the future, but could also do nothing. Wish him the best, but won't lose any sleep if he walks.
Hughes - would be disappointed to see go.
Usman - as with Hughes
Smith - Definite keeper. His batting is improving and will be an important leader in the squad.
Kat - thanks for everything Kat, but see ya.
Haddin - fantastic servant to the Blues over many years, but you'd have to fight off the volunteers to help him pack if he got an offer interstate. If not we can still help you pack for retirement.
Nev - sign him, sign him now. Most important guy we need to have on the books.
Haurie - thanks Nath, but if you've got a better offer take it.
Dougie - Love the Rug, but it's two summers of injury in a row. Could almost be getting to Mark Cameron stakes. A keeper, but not at any price.

So the good news is we've already cut 3, with probably Katich to come too. The bad news is right now we've got no low cap hits pretty much, even ****ley might go or something. Although we do have people like Doran and Patterson to give low cap hits to during the off-season.

Now, given Maddinson and Hauritz don't have secure spots they're obvious ones to go cause their big cap hits. However, if we give Smith the C to keep him here (I would) it becomes tricky, because SOK can't say he deserves a place in the NSW OD team. Luke Doran, Steve Smith and Hauritz are all better OD spinners. So he has a high cap hit when he might just be playing one format of the game, where Hauritz happens to better. So yeah, tricky. if Starc doesn't get a CA contract things could be tricky with the fast bowlers too. 4 high cap hits for 3 spots. Be nice to us CA...
