Do you like Afridi?

This guy polarises opinion like no one else. So what do you think of him.

I love this guy. Enjoy watching him bat and bowl. And can forgive him for all the crap he has done because I know that he has a big heart. ;)

I like watching Afridi the cricketer, he's fun and entertaining with the bat, and awesome to watch with the ball.

Wouldn't say I'm a fan of the bloke, what twirling his studs into the pitch deliberately and all.

Sorry to screw with the OP theory but I have no strong opinions either way. I guess I have no real objection to him playing (as long as he has changed his diet to something other than cricket balls).

Just got informed by a coach at Middlsex that Afridi bit the ball, yes again, in a T20 at Uxbridge last year, they didn't report him though.

Like him as a cricketer though.

There's not many players in World cricket that I really dislike, I either like a player or I don't have much of a opinion one way or the other but Afridi is a douchebag, my dislike for him hasn't been helped by things like biting the ball and twirling on the pitch mind.

He's kinda a loveable rouge. Yes, he's "made some mistakes" (as the preferred euphemism for "being caught red handed cheating" goes), but there's an almost charming guilelessness about his skullduggery. Who else would try to dance a pirouette on a good length with about two dozen cameras in attendance?

& at least when he cheats it's to try to win, not something one can always say about certain countrymen of his.

I agree with this.

However, I don't like him as a cricketer. It's a bit like my dislike of Gayle in that I really don't like him at all but for largely different reasons than most.

Short answer: No.
Long answer: Nah.

Anyhow I think he's tended to be under-rated in these parts.

He played a good knock today. But even when he's in less responsible mode, it's hard not to have an admiration for the sheer purity of his approach, to say nothing of his extraordinary ability to hit the ball miles.

A very dangerous and skilful bowler too.

He has a couple of incidents of cheating on his record, obviously, but again in a funny way it's hard to be fully outraged because there's a certain engaging simplicity to what he did, in full view of the cameras and opposition players: twirling his studs on a good length during a bomb scare, and biting the ball ffs.

All in all: a legend.

Biting the ball is funny, but twirling the studs during a bomb scare is actually horrible imo.

Particularly when there were concerns before the tour, and then of course when you think about how Pakistan is untourable nowadays.
