Dear god, I didn't think it was possible for your argument to get any worse, but you are actually doing it.

Trott bowled a whole 12 overs in 3 Tests, being used so sparingly because the other's were bowling well.

Now, if Finn were a top order batsman who was a better bowler than Trott then you might have a case for him playing in place of Morgan.

lol.. it is obvious you guys rate Morgan's chances in these conditions for this series a LOT higher than I do. Fair enough. FWIW, I seriously do think even Finn might have gone better than him.

Thats why we are all saying its idiotic for starters. Chances of Morgan playing one good innings and winning a game 75/100. Some random bowler doing the same 1/100.

But you are not picking him for his batting. It is just that even as a bowler, he might still be able to contribute more than Morgan to the side. Even as the 5th bowler and #10 batsman... You can laugh all you want and call it idiotic, we will never know because he did not play. But if he did, I think he would have been much more useful for England than Morgan, that's that.

I get your point but what are the chances that any other batsman/bowler would succeed more?

What evidence do you have? Can you say with reasonable certainty that Morgan will be worse on these pitches than any Tom, Dick, or Harry that you pick from the street? And is that just your hunch?

I will admit I expected more from him before the series, but wouldn't have been averse to Bresnan playing and the 2 spinners.

As soon as Bresnan went there was no way on earth anyone in their right mind would drop Morgan for a specialist bowler.

this English team is very likable even Broad and KP have improved and come across quite nice blokes now ofcourse Swann is the resident joker.
