Faster in number of matches? Should be expected for a opener with a near 50 average and i think some others like Smith have done quicker.
It should be expected that your openers get to 6,000 runs faster than Tendulkar? Expected?

Opener with a near 50 average . :p

Being a opener is a advantage as far as that stat is concerned.

good effort from England if they win this it will be one of those games where you just stand up and clap the opposition have come back well since tea yesterday when they looked dead and buried.

Surely it'd be harder since facing the new ball is the hardest time to bat?
But you are guaranteed batting in 2 innings every time, unless your team wins by a innings.

Talking about number of runs here, not the average.

And yeah facing the new ball is the hardest time to bat in many conditions but not in many too. Also you are pretty much guaranteed to have adequate support throughout your innings compared to say a lower middle order batsman who may have to bat with the tail.
