Australian Domestic Season 2011-12

Yeah I reckon it's just that he doesn't rate Shield attacks at all, so just basically goes out with a mindset to flog them.

Which he then does.

Again though I think that it comes down to the main reason for his record at #4 - pure coincidence. The vast majority of those runs came when he was either in obviously good nick or when he'd just been dropped and had a serious point to prove (above 400 of those runs came in three innings for once out straight after he'd been dropped).
Of course it could just be voodoo.

Play 10 bats + Nev and just let Katich bowl them out imo.
Phil Hughes' brother took 5 the other week who says he can't take 5 too?!

We could always drop Maddinson and open with Katich or Khawaja.
oh man if we open with katich now after all the times we should have....I'll probably kill someone.

but yeah i'm pretty sure we're saving KP for next season. Will replace Katich. And there'll be literally tens of stories about the new Baby Blues

to just go back a second, it's kinda ****ed that clarke has played 7 games for NSW since 2004. Obviously his back comes into it, but really

adub

International Captain
will the final isn't out of contention, we're 12 points behind 2nd and from here on all the games we play are against teams above us, meaning if we get on a run on we're bridging that gap pretty quickly. SA beating some teams and maybe some rain would be handy tho. But yeah we can do it. But the batting needs to stop being so ****ing **** in the first innings. So dropping a person who has been hugely involved in that is fair enough. But then we can't afford to have the stats focusing on silverware......
I know we can theoretically make it, and if we had Dougeh, Cummins and Haze all fit then I reckon we could make a late run, but I'm not confident we have the attack to take 20 wickets often enough to do it unless we get some raging turners.

Henriques is passable at 6....but only if he has to bowl. Let him focus just on his batting and he'll be horrible

edit oh and hey poor rohrer. goes from captaining to be dumped. but unless we want to dump steve smith - or worse play Moz as opening bowler - it has to happen
Yep Moi Moi without bowling = not fc standard. And how can I forget Ben? Rohrer fails the Rohrer test? Seriously the guy should have gone interstate 3 years ago. He'd be in the test side now.

If we do go with the balance you indicated (which we probably will) then he should bat below Nev IMO. Can't see you disagreeing. :p
I've thought for some time that Nev should move up to 6 a la Wade. With Moz, Haurie and SOK in the side 7,8,9 is ridiculous. You could make an argument that Moi Moi should be the No.9 of that line up.

So then, Coyte is back. Oh yay.

RYOBI CUP vs TASMANIA, Feb 4, 2012, Blundstone Arena

Nathan Hauritz
Moises Henriques
Phil Hughes
Simon Katich
Usman Khawaja
Nic Maddinson
Peter Nevill
Ben Rohrer
Steve Smith

BUPA SHEFFIELD SHIELD vs TASMANIA, Feb 6-9 2012, Blundstone Arena
Stephen O’Keefe
Trent Copeland
Scott Coyte
Nathan Hauritz
Moises Henriques
Phil Hughes
Simon Katich
Usman Khawaja
Josh Lalor
Peter Nevill
Ben Rohrer
Steve Smith

On the plus side we've dropped Maddinson from the Shield team so we can play Rohrer; precisely what I suggested before. And Coyte will probably be 12th man anyway. It'll be interesting to see who gets made 12th man in the one dayer; I think it'll be a batsman looking at that, so either Khawaja or Rohrer. Probably Rohrer unfortunately.

well other than coyte in the shield that's decent enough. and i suppose the difference between coyte and abbott and Timm and so forth is hardly gigantic

Soooo:

Phil Hughes
Usman Khawaja
Steve Smith
Simon Katich
Nic Maddinson
Moises Henriques
Stephen O’Keefe
Peter Nevill
Scott Coyte
Nathan Hauritz
Trent Copeland

As per usual I really want to move SOK up the order but I'm stuck at 7/8. tbf, rohrer is usually pretty bad in ODers so I don't mind that. Pace attack could end in tears.

Phil Hughes
Simon Katich ?
Usman Khawaja ?
Steve Smith
Ben Rohrer
Moises Henriques
Peter Nevill
Stephen O’Keefe
Nathan Hauritz
Trent Copeland
Josh Lalor

Scott Coyte

Rather annoying we spend all of the first half of the season refusing to move Katich from 4 when most of the time we needed an opener, and then we get some opening depth.....

So we're looking at:

Shield:

1. Hughes
2. Katich
3. Khawaja
4. Smith
5. Rohrer
6. Henriques
7. Nevill
8. Hauritz
9. O'Keefe
10. Copeland
11. Lalor/Coyte

There's a chance of Khawaja opening and Katich dropping down to 3 or even 4 with Smith at 3 (which we tried once before for some stupid reason) but with the opening in the Australian team at #3 at the moment I reckon they'll let Khawaja bat 3.

Ryobi:

1. Hughes
2. Maddinson
3. Khawaja (or Rohrer with a reshuffle perhaps)
4. Katich
5. Smith
6. Henriques
7. Nevill
8. O'Keefe
9. Hauritz
10. Coyte
11. Copeland

That's what I'd do with the batting lineup anyway but after the Big Bash I wouldn't be surprised if Henriques opened the batting and Maddinson came in at 3 tbh. That'd increase the chances of Rohrer playing too.

taste it pews.

hauritz v sok for number 8 obv the big debate

For the ODer I reckon Hughes is more likely than Usman to move down but I'm pretty sure both will open. They like Smith at 3 in ODers, and tbf he hasn't been totally useless there like he would be at 6 so that'll probably stay. so maddinson v rohrer for 5.

oh hey Patterson has a hip problem. he will soon suffer a calf injury if he follows the script
