Cricketweb's 5 most unfairly treated players

Honestly I don't know too many players who are treated *really* unfairly here. If you'd asked me about six months ago I'd say that Clarke, Watson and Johnson recieved a bit too much stick but since then...

This doesn't apply to outside CW obvs.

Cowan? Haven't read every post of the Indians in Oz thread, but haven't detected a lynch mob out for him especially.

Bresnan, if not unfairly treated exactly, does seem perenially underrated on CW. I think because he looks (or looked before the recent weightloss) like he'd be at home with a pint with his mates in a Castleford working man's club and (with all due respect) he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer (he's England's Twittersphere Karl Pilkington to Swann's Gervais and Anderson's Merchant) his cricketing virtues have been overlooked.

Hmm, not sure about that either. Most people place him as England's 3rd-choice seamer and a key part of the ridiculous lower order, which is more or less bang on.

Sami is so awesome!! Only Pakistani bowler I like more than him is Wasim Akram, who is obviously some sort of demigod who has graced mankind with his presence.

I am sure Himannv you wouldn't ever want to disclose those sentiments regarding Sami to the general populace in Pakistan. You'll probably have rotten tomatoes and eggs aplenty to contend with

I'll be sure to wear protective gear if I do decide to visit.

Definitely Michael Clarke over the course of his career. Only just now starting to get the praise he deserves.

Matt Prior.

Not just on CW either, tbf. I bow to no-one in my admiration for Sanga, but it was a travesty of justice he was named in the ICC's test team of 2011 as keeper ahead of Matty despite not keeping in tests at all in the qualifying period & scoring fewer runs at a lower average.

Well either everyone's biased against Australian players except you guys or you guys are biased towards Australia. I know where my money is :p

I reckon KP always attracts far, far more criticism than he really deserves. But that's far from unique to CW. Darren Sammy's another one who gets an awful lot of unwarranted ****.

Gautam Gambhir too, but not for his ability, just because he's always made out to be much more of a dick than he actually is.

Yeah, came in here to say that KP gets a really raw deal, although mainly thinking about the press and general fans. Find that older pundits and fans often approach him with a somewhat dissaproving tone and the casual fans are always ready to jump on him when things go wrong , blaming the 'South African.' A couple of poor performances and people are all to quick to want to discard him which is frankly ridiculous, for all his failings he is still at this point the best English batsman of my time watching cricket.
