He was proper gash with the bat towards the end of his tenure. You only have to look at Harmison in the Sky studio to see how former players should handle punditry; he still seems like one of the lads, genuinely seems upset when we aren't winning and even when he's being critical he judges on a specific moment (ie a bad shot, bad delivery) but doesn't just criticize the player/team in general like Vaughan does.
Yeah, there's a certain dignity required to do these things well. None of the best pundits/commentators I can think of ever specifically single out a player and say they think he's outright crap. It's fine to criticise individual shots/actions, or to say you don't think someone's performed well enough to stay in the side or justified inclusion at this level. But to come out and say things in the way Vaughan does, just...poor show.

Said it earlier in the match Morgan out Bopara in, Bopara deserves the next game and the SL tour and when he messes that up Taylor in for the start of the English summer.

Ravi or Davies for the next test for Morgan then?

Both actually pretty decent players of spin. Davies saw us home versus the Ass/affs in the first tour game. Averages over 40 in FC cricket, so he's a live option as a specialist bat, IMHO.
Bopara will come in for Eoin. I still don't think his technique is that bad but he should obviously be out of the picture for now. He needs to actually go play fc cricket.

Anyway thats an obvious solution, a harder one is what do you do about Bell/KP? They've looked just as clueless.

Congratulations to all Pakistan supporters

Surely though England could have tried to be a bit more aggressive, did they ever leave there crease in the second innings. Even in the first innings they were crawling along

Ah I get

Eng 118
SA 117
Ind// Aus 111
Pak 108

** Note if SA whitewash NZ they go to 119.

re: the rankings for a Pakistan whitewash.
So theoretically BCCI could call England to India for a 2 test series quickly, beat them 2-0 get back to no.1 and claim everything is fine. Hmm.. wonder what Srinivasan would be thinking?

Very worried about Bell. Was embarrassing seeing the English media fapping over him being one of the world's best players of spin last summer when he was up against an out of form Indian attack on non spin friendly wickets.

Haha, this is the second time you've completely missed the fact that people are talking about the official ICC rankings. :p England lose their spot if they don't win the next match.
Not with the predictions that I did. Even if it's 3-0 Pakistan, England are still numero uno.

KP looks worse than Bell to me.

Simple - let him open with Cook & stuff Strauss somewhere down the order (he's been crap with the bat for some time now). Bell's strength has always been against seamers, not spinners - quite why the opposite conclusion has been reached recently is a mystery.

I'm now thinking about changing my opinion regarding Mohsin. Would still like Whatmore, but I think Mohsin should have a crucial role.

Makes sense. I grew up around Pakistan fans (not many Indians though), and the hatred for anything Indian cricket related was hilariously fierce
haha tell me about it. My school team is 9/11 Indian and our arch rivals have 4-5 Pakistani guys including the captain. It's like a mini India Pak game every time we play.

The trouble I have with Morgs is that there's so very much going on in his initial trigger movements. He steps across, crouches and then pivots on his back foot before playing. He actually does (when in nick) end up playing pretty straight, but because he's so "busy" it only takes one of his tics to be fractionally off and he loses his off stump.

I love the boy, because he's a ballsy lad, but I just don't quite think he has the chops for test cricket. He earned the right to fail, based on his limited overs form, but I think it's time to say he hasn't quite made it.

It's amazing how Pakista never runs out of match winning bowlers. Congratulations on a well deserved victory against the no 1 team :)
