Lots of interesting scenarios incoming if they do cough it up.

India getting it on the back of two overseas thrashings would be hilarious but without looking at the rankings I don't think they're anywhere near.

So, can South Africa inherit it and choke it up without even playing anyone?
they're equal with us (basically) but don't play in yonks. you'd think sa are odds-on to take it after this.

we are, amazingly, a theoretical chance if we beat wi 3-0. needs 3-0 here, sl 2-0 vs eng, nz to beat sa and the luck of the draw with the decimal places.

Haha, this is the second time you've completely missed the fact that people are talking about the official ICC rankings. :p England lose their spot if they don't win the next match.
Nope, was speaking about the rankings this time. Didn't realise England could drop far enough to get overtaken. So I take it it'll be the Saffers then? Pretty much the only way they'd get to number 1 tbh.

As am I. I never much cared for him at the time to be honest, but these days he is just so incredibly smug. Happy to call out others for their faults, conveniently forgetting the fact that his performances with the bat whilst captain were for the most part shall we say "substandard", and that's being kind.
He was proper gash with the bat towards the end of his tenure. You only have to look at Harmison in the Sky studio to see how former players should handle punditry; he still seems like one of the lads, genuinely seems upset when we aren't winning and even when he's being critical he judges on a specific moment (ie a bad shot, bad delivery) but doesn't just criticize the player/team in general like Vaughan does.

Ah I get

Eng 118
SA 117
Ind// Aus 111
Pak 108

** Note if SA whitewash NZ they go to 119.

re: the rankings for a Pakistan whitewash.

The way test cricket is going currently, WI will probably beat you 2-1. Though NZ will obviously crush SA right after they take no 1.

Well I am rather grateful I spent the last two hours getting angry about trains. (Q1: How the **** can an intercity train uncouple itself in the middle of a station halfway across this country, simultaneously taking out its PA system so that no one has a ****ing clue what's going on? Q2: Why the **** is "everyone get in the front two carriages, squeeze in, you'll fit" the best solution anyone can come up with in half an hour of standing around and telling no one anything?)

Silver lining: if I hadn't have stormed out of the house at lunchtime in a humongous silk, I'd currently be facing a frantic sprint across Reading Station to catch my connecting train to Exeter. I'd also probably have done £600 worth of fatal damage to my TV.

I hope Exeter v Charlton improves my mood.

Ravi or Davies for the next test for Morgan then?

Both actually pretty decent players of spin. Davies saw us home versus the Ass/affs in the first tour game. Averages over 40 in FC cricket, so he's a live option as a specialist bat, IMHO.

They could even play Davies as a keeper and bump Prior to number 6. Although I don't really fancy that.
