And you weigh that up with the waiting around for confirmation of the decision instead of it being instantaneous, which for mine takes away the enjoyment of watching the game, and the only reason sport exists is for people to watch it.

All I'm saying is that it's easy to see why certain people don't like the idea of DRS. Personally I don't care, I just want it uniform.
TBF, I find the enjoyment of the game > waiting a minute and getting the decision right an unconvincing argument. But you were talking about efficacy before and I was responding to that.

I can agree with people dissenting because it isn't perfect, I think they just fail to appreciate that it is still better than what we have. It's like choosing to walk to China instead of flying because there can be accidents on planes.

Dear Captain Bad Analogy,

If you read my posts on this topic over the course of CW history, you'll find that I always come from the vantage point of maximising viewer enjoyment.

Take for example what we're seeing with these no ball referals. Sure I'd prefer them to be called if they're over the line, but if it's so close that the umpire can't tell, then I don't care if the batsmen is out and there's a tiny millimetre over the line, as long as the moment isn't spoiled for the viewing public.

Don't know if I can be too critical of Haddin there. Seems he went but it was too wide.

Commentators who whinge about slips too close together now saying they should both be diving and the stagger should be set accordingly.

Contra

Cricketer Of The Year
Rubbish, if he got 10 ducks in a row he'd at least get a shoulder tap
That won't happen for a start, and even then no one's gonna go up to him and say "I think you should think about retiring". I'm sure he'll call it quits in another year or so anyway, probably after the test series against Australia in 2013 finishes.

I can tell you 2 people who've just played there last test though: Dravid and Laxman.

Which is why I'm a little sad Dravid didn't get an ovation like that.

Gazza!!! Beautifully bowled. Top spell to Tendulkar there.

So then, that's the last we see of Dravid or Tendulkar in the cricket that matters. It's a sad end but these things always are. Great players both, they and Laxman have annoyed the living **** out of me for more than a decade.
