Interesting to note how many of the Aussie top-7 have fairly meh records on AO, only Clarke and Ponting terribly consistent there. Gives India some hope, I guess.
Enjoyed this post while reading back through the thread just now. Good call.

Superb partnership from Ponting and Clarke.

Ponting would have to be the best number three since Bradman, his attacking play for a number three is unmatched except by Viv but he wasnt as consistant as Ponting.

Perhaps he should have batted #3 today instead of the lamentable Marsh.

Has there been a more pop gun attack than this Indian one?

The kiwis always seem to have at least someone who can threaten the batsmen and they always persist, the Windies have the likes of Roach, SA has Steyn and England has clearly the best attack in world cricket. The Indians are as listless as dogs in the midday sun.

Don't see how anything he's done this series is relevant to that tbh, given he hasn't been at #3.

Although you can make the argument that given that Marsh lasts about an over on average, he's basically been batting #3 anyway.

Bad example.

tbh, I've been saying he was going to come good again for some time, Jono, the **** who's been the most vociferous in mocking me, to confirm (eat it, ****er).

Of course, since then I also said he should be dropped after the South African tour so I dunno if it counts any more.....

Let me have this one, my predictions usually suuuuck.

Not disputing your post mate - just saying would have been braver to post that when he was in a hole and people were calling for his head (2 months ago)
I'm not calling him god, every player has a bad run, but he has been the best batsman over the last 12 years and up there with the very best and argueably only second to Bradman. As I said only Viv is in the same class.

There was a cogent case for dropping though. As Inside Cricket pointed out, up to this series he had only averaged above 33 once in his seven previous series. A couple of ex-players though expected him to make runs against the Indians because their attack is so weak, especially on these tracks.

Yeah if he averaged over a hundred every series then he would be better than Bradman. But as I said Bradman was better.

Expecting fans to treat Kohli like what they've done to Yadav when he fails in the first dig, only to praise him again when he scores runs in the second.
