What is the teesra?

All I can think of when hearing that name is golf tees. Maybe hell make it easier for the batsman by putting the ball on a custom tee and the batsman can just whack it.

As I say - once you've got three deliveries that do everything it's possible for a cricket-ball to do, you can't develop anything else.
Not really.

There can be variations in the look of how the ball does those things, or the action causing deception.

For instance, would you say the top spinner and flipper (which both go straight on) are the same?

I see, you're English....No wonder you lack a mystery spinner if such old fashioned views are a common trait.

You don't see I'm English, you see I live in England. And for that matter, but for an Englishman "mystery" spin might never have been thought of.

I've been assured Flippers and whatever-balls-that-use-the-impartion-of-topspin are called are in fact polar-opposites so far as bounce is concerned... but as far as direction is concerned they're the same.

Teesra must be just " under-spin, that makes the ball stop for a fraction of a scond at landing point and then reach the target and it may turn either way

I think if you put massive backspin on a ball it could theoretically shoot up the bat into the air for a close-in catch. I don't think I've ever seen that happen before.

Out of curiosity, can any Hindu/Urdi speaker tell me what comes after teesra? I.e. what is "the fourth one"?

What would that delivery look like?

Second: दूसरा = Dūsarā ~ Doosra
Third: तीसरा = Tīsarā ~ Teesra
Fourth: चौथा = Cauthā ~ Joeta/Chowta (chow isn't pronounced like the 'ow' in 'cow', but like the 'ow' in 'row')

So wait, the names relate to the finger you spin it with or what?

I didn't realise the names had a theory behind them.

the doosra meaning "the second" in urdu/hindi was derived as a code for the delivery by Moin and Saqlain so that whenever saqlain would bowl that Moin would be ready to collect it.

The "teesra" means the third. I doubt they use these terms between them in matches. Probably use some other code now.

So doosra meaning 'the second' is just like saying 'the first ball I bowl is the off break and the second ball I bowl is the one that goes the other way' ?
