RT @PeterYoung1952: Marsh, Haddin, Starc & Lyon avail to play BBL, others being workload/fitness managed for Adelaide Test

And now we cross to the Sydney Thunder for their thoughts on this

I tend to agree - should be more condensed.

Lots on rain around today... it might stop by tonight but I can see a low-scoring game if they get on the field.

I wonder if, in situations like these where rain is likely to wash out a game, there should be scope for each team to bat their minimum 5 overs first to ensure a result, and then bat the remaining 15 each afterwards (a similar thought could apply to one dayers).

agree. With 7 matches you should easily knock that over and have semis and final in about 3 - 3.5 weeks. About 24 days from start to finish would still leave an average of 2 clear days between each game. 2 or 3 games per day during the rounds with the semis same day and final 3 days later.

That would make it much easier to go head to head say with the Aus Open Tennis. Rounds during the Tennis with the finals clear air the week after. That would make it potentially valuable to FTA TV.

Making it short would also give the opportunity to clear the international calendar as a break between the Tests and ODIs. Make the Australian players available and even open up the chance for the touring players to get contracts too. Then you can play the International T20s around the Big Bash Finals before getting into the ODIs.

Also solves the problem of not having players playing hit and giggle instead of pressing their case in the Shield during the Test matches. Make Sydney the last test each summer and you've got the rest of January for T20 and Feb for ODIs.
