Wickets and hundreds celebrations: today vs yesterday

not just wickets and runs though is it, the way England players touch each other up after a good bit of fielding which some Aussies have done too lately is a bit OTT.
Yes that is irritating to say the least but most of the nations have stated to do it for some reason. I'd noticed the celebrations this summer in Oz had been a lot more over the top than normal.
Personally hate Tahir's celebration, didn't mind it at first, now it looks like a bit false like he thinks it's his trademark and the OTT celebration for a No11 wickets is frankly bizarre.

Monty had/has a similar celeb to Tahir & his got increasingly tiresome as time went on too.

Worst celebs are the choreographed ones tho. BLee's chainsaw was pure punch in the throat fodder.

Noted that Cowan celebrated his 50 yesterday with a manly and decorous raising of the bat and then a tip of it to salute his balcony. Could set your watch to that celeb.

Guy has lived his entire life, moved across continents and worked so hard just for these precious moments and you ****s are having a whinge about it.

Not yet he hasn't. Well, hopefully for Imran's sake.

But then Trott's moved continents to play tests too and he doesn't celebrate like an idiot savant on speed.

People seem to be trying to justify a players celebrations based on how long they've struggled to get in the team or because they 'really really want it!' I don't see how this attitude is any different to players of yore.

Pattinson, Siddle (at times) celebrate as if to rub it in the faces of opposition players.

Monty has one of the gayest celebs going.

Great stuff Warner's hundy but come on his celeb was horrible. He basically ran around the park jizzing all over the Indians.

love tahir's celebrations, he doesn't do it to be a ****, he does it because he loves taking wickets.
Yep. How many people get to play Test cricket? When I solve an equation I can't wildly run and shout for joy while high-fiving people just for doing it properly, and my life of work is much the poorer for it.

My thoughts exactly. This sort of thing is all too rare these days.

Most batsmen can still contain themselves on reaching 50. I will reserve judgement until I see him get a hundred. It is probably a reflection of the change in culture. It wasn't that long ago that the Waughs were playing and you were lucky to get an arm raise out of them on taking a wicket.

The over the top celebrations are damn annoying though.

Hate it when bowlers start celebrating LBW wickets before appealing. Stuart Broad particularly guilty of this.

I remember Usman Afzaal getting embarrassingy over-excited when he got a 50 against the Crims in 2001.

Sheesh, was that really over a decade ago?

Sure players have always been prone to over the top celebrations but in today's game it is the huge number of players who celebrate wildly that has changed.

On that note - been watching some NFL lately and cricket celebrations are up there with a team sacking the QB or knocking down the ball. What utter utter wankery seeing those guys strutting about.

Haha NFL celebrations are ridiculous. And they don't just happen for touchdowns or interceptions, but regular tackles too. It is quite funny.

Yeah I just don't get it. Was there something riding on that one tackle I'm completely unaware of?

I enjoy NFL but some of the **** they do makes me laugh. Americans!
