Think it's fair to say so far Patto owns the top 7, given that graph. In time though, once he hones his radar a bit more, he should make a pretty devastating new ball bowler.

Btw what are peoples thoughts on dead rubber matches? Treat them like any other match, or use them to experiment a little with team changes?

Ofcourse you try and win like any other match.

Developing a winning culture is the most important thing in team sport.

Yeah but a dead rubber match is a great opportunity to give opportunities to newer players. Lyon needs a game. 4 man pace attack is simply not a viable long term option. You are not going to play in Perth every time, bowlers are going to get injured, conditions are going to change. Also, for the long run, you want a spinner in your side..and I don't know who that spinner is but if the think tank feels its Lyon, then he needs games under his belt.

But there is trying to win, and trying to win though. E.g. if you really wanted to win in Adelaide, no doubt you'd play Harris. But because it is a dead rubber, there might be a stronger-than-normal inclination to rest Harris, and debut someone else who is promising (e.g. NCN.)

If Adelaide dictates that 3 pacemen plus a spinner is the best mix, then you do that.

If Adelaide dictates that 4 pacemen is the best mix, then you do that.
