***Official*** India in Australia 2011/12

pretty crazy hey, for a fast bowling paradise
The Perth wicket is perfect for these innings. Pitch slightly short of a good length and it's a hittable bouncer, bowl slightly fuller and the ball will carry through on a good driving length for a strong hitter straight.

It was raised in the commentary, but the question is, how does Warner approach his game from now on? This wasn't a flat wicket, but nevertheless, you can't help but feel that trying to play this aggressively all of the time isn't going to pay dividends in the long term.

Almost every time I get home from work I find I've missed an entire innings involving a test against Australia.

NZ and Australia against each other, now India over and over.

Mitchell Marsh and Nathan Coulter-Nile were both seen around the Australian set up today. Obviously not a coincidence as they're both regarded as future Australian Test players. How close does everybody reckon the said players are to selection?

Awesome innings from Warner. I've got to admit that I was wrong about him, two years ago my thoughts on Warner as a cricketer were all pretty negative ones. All of the sudden it's an exciting time to be an Australian supporter again.

Neither are close, just local players drafted in to help out, obviously. Mitch is good for the ODI team, CN isn't that close i would've thought.

Some of those shots were low percentage. He might as well keep trying to play like that until he runs into a spell of poor form. He didn't look great when he batted normally in the last over.

I have been trying to think of the perfect field for Warner. Which is what the indian think tank is doing right now.

Got to have a man at a straight long on. Got to have a couple in on a single. Must have two men at mid wicket on the boundary. One slip only.

The NCN bandwagon is starting to pick up some members, just picked up the C9 commentary team today. If we lost another quick today then NCN could certainly find himself being fast tracked as really only Copeland, Butterworth and Hogan would be in the frame of the bunch left.

This is a really unusual innings in FC terms from Warner though. Don't think you'll see him play a knock like this again for a long time.

The way he batted here.

He batted much more normally against NZ though, on a much harder batting deck, and succeeded as well. So he has options (unlike someone like Sehwag who would be destroyed if he tried to slow his game down), but surely he has to settle for some middle ground otherwise it will be hard for him to keep a clear mind over a long period of time.

For about 5 or 6 years the local state association nominates two players to help out with 13th man duties. Sometimes they choose guys like Marsh and Coulter-Nile, sometimes it's younger guys from outside of the squad. Maybe WA decided to push those guys, get them being talked about by Ch 9 when they are on the screen, get them some more press, etc.

Remember when Warner got to be 12th man all those years ago

edit that could be a good video for Rob to upload. He did a good chase iirc.

Yeah, was during the 2005/06 series, just selected the U/19 Aus side, we had our caps presented to us by Mark Taylor during a Test. Warner and, I think, Usman stayed behind for an extra day or two.
