The Victorians killed footy and an international game in the 1880's though. It could have kicked off in England but they probably spent more time arguing over who was the most proud Victorian and didn't send a team. Lol, sports capital can't organise a game.

1898 South Melbourne brought the game to Wagga, and won 11 16 to 4 7, birthplace of the King so they got one thing right.
