Australia probably welcoming an easier attack than the mighty NZ.
I think the hype pendulum has swung too far the other way as far as the Indian attack is concerned. Zaheer and Ashwin are good, Ishant's decent and Yadav's an alright prospect. It's only really when bowlers start breaking down that they degenerate into a total prank-attack.

Not Terrible

Yeah I actually think people will be a little surprised by how decent the Indian attack will be if they don't break down.

Still no NZ though. Martin > Zaheer in these conditions.

Love the new Qantas/ CA partnership:

"Qantas and Australian Cricket: going down together"

Farrrkk feel edgy about this. Someone like Yadav could utilise these conditions pretty well I reckon.

Well, it's a judgement call but I don't think it'll move that much anyway and any movement will be gone post-lunch. Looks pretty brown to me.
Fair enough. Cricinfo reckon the pitch is very soft so it might disintegrate badly later in the game. When there's this much disagreement it's probably a close enough decision that it doesn't really matter what you do.

Mate if the wicket isn't a raging green top why would you bowl first? Fmd, it's such a defensive move in those circumstances.

It looks a normal Melbourne pitch. If it plays like it, then batting is the right call.

As long as they don't drive expansively on it pre-lunch whe it's like Zaheer (tacky) they should be right.

How would BCCI Cricinfo know? Don't they commentate it off the tv?

If there's doubt, bat.

EDIT: Not just that, the pitch really hasn't disintegrated this season in Shield matches. Been good to bat on all the way through. Lack of local knowledge from Cricinfo, tbh.
