*Official* English Football Season 2011-12

Norwood's on Fire
Publically he has, sure. It's just a way of supporting Terry, or trying to turn the heat down on him.

Which begs the question as to who as been the bigger waste of money - Torres at £50m or Carroll at £35m?
Carroll.

Torres at least had a bit of pedigree to justify an outlay. Carroll's pedigree was a half decent season in the Championship (Celtic's Gary Hooper scored more goals than he did), and a couple of decent months in the Premiership.

Anyone else think Torres looks pretty overweight at the moment? Thought he looked decidedly heavy and sluggish last night.

Both are big wastes. I was defending the Torress buy to others saying that its a matter of time before he comes good. Now he seems just worthless.

He has become a cruel joke on Chelsea supporters :(

I went into Subway and asked for their most expensive sub. I got Fernando Torres

Torres had been so, so awful for ages even before Chelsea signed him. He even managed to look dire in the Spain team that won the World Cup. Carroll's a total donkey with a ****ty attitude but it might just be better to bin 35m than 50m. It's a bigger price difference than it seems given that both players are no more useful than a turd on a string.

Although someone else will probably be duped into signing Torres at some stage so at least Chelsea have a better chance of recouping some of the money.

He'd shown signs of getting back to his best though - he absolutely roasted John Terry at Anfield last season.

Before his ******** sending off against Swansea he was showing it this season too. Despite his atrocious miss against United, he looked superb that day. His finish for the goal was sublime and his pace and movement was almost back to his best.

Personally, I'd still back him to come good. I'd take him at City as well, I think our system and the way we play would do wonders for him. He'd essentially be a better Dzeko.

That's not how I remember it. "Torres shows signs of returning to his phenomenally exciting best" is a better narrative than "Torres punctuates his 12 months of disgusting ****e with a rare quality performance". The first is what the papers said, the second is what happened.

Hmmm. Dunno. He seems rather preoccupied with ranting about Sarcozy in the politics thread. Maybe that will satisfy his quota for voicing his opinion on various French gentlemen for a while.
