So is Swann apart from Saf in 09 he's never had a consistent series against a top class test batting line up. He's surely ahead of Ajmal but i think the likes of Younis and Misbah have handled much better spinners then him successfully, his impact will also be not as huge as people are expecting
Swann has a bowling average of 12 against Pakistan.

guy has 261 wickets @ 34 despite Akmal dropping/missing over 50 chances of his bowling.
Harbhajan also has 400 test wickets..does not make him great.

There is a piece published in Cricinfo Page 2 as part of a satire titled Symmonds delivers Harbhajan oration speech.

Here is a section I would like to quote.

"Now, a lot of people have wondered how a bowler who could barely spin the ball can have taken 400-plus wickets. The answer, in my opinion, is simple - give the ball to any chump off the street, ask him to play as many games and bowl as many overs as Bhajji has, refuse to drop him for bad performances, and he'll get you 400 wickets. It's the classic case of the Infinite Monkey Theorem, the premise being that a monkey banging away at a typewriter for an infinite amount of time will almost surely, by chance and time alone, end up writing the entire works of Shakespeare."

I have seen Kaneria boast too many times how he was going to spin Pakistan to victory, I have read too many pieces before a test series how Pakistan were counting on Kaneria to win them the series and I have never seen that happen. We have not had a great spinner since Saqlain. Ajmal is very impressive..hoping he goes all the way but perhaps time is not on his side.

Harbhajan's form in the last 2-3 years has been very poor, but he has bowled match winning spells for India quite a few times.

well that depends on how you define a match winning performance. If you bowl 40 overs, you are going to get 7 wickets for 150. That is exactly how Kaneria used to bowl as well. He would get 6 or 7 wickets after bowling 30 overs and concede over 140 runs.

What I mean by match winning performance is when someone runs through the side.
