Well tbf it was thought of as a legit concern to play two lefties when Mitch and Dougeh were about.

Hilf bowled l33t for Hobart the other day. Actually bowled full. Haven't seen him play for Tasmania in the shield this year though.

Obviously not having a left armer was a real weakness of the Windies attack in the 80s, and ours in the 1990s and 2000s.

it's just like, Hilf may well be bowling well. He may well be bowling full and getting late swing. But he showed over a very long time in tests he's not very good against right handed batsmen, and he hasn't done much to suggest he's fixed that has he?
So, clearly, we should have picked Josh Lalor.

The team looks to be in a pretty poor state at the moment, but it's one of the first times I can say it's laregly not to do with bad decisions, but just the unfortunate occurence of injuries. That being said, I don't give a rats whatever rationale people can come up with for Christian's potential inclusion, it's not a strong enough argument for me at all.
In terms of the overall squad selected though, there isn't really that much more to complain about. I wouldn't have chosen Hilfenhaus (or Starc), but with so many injuries he isn't that far back that the decision is actually a bad one. Without Watson and Harris out though the side looks pretty vunerable.
The bowling attack still looks pretty good, and if Hilfenhaus plays over Starc it will be better than the NZ one imo. But at the same time, Pattinson and Siddle still have to show they can back up their performances from the last series, on what are likely to be much less helpful wickets against far better batsmen.
The batting doesn't instill me with much confidence at all, even in the best case scenario of Marsh playing. Warner looks the goods but he still seems to have a bit of a niggle, and is very inexperienced. Pleased to see Cowan there instead of Khawaja, but it's his debut (on boxing day!) so nerves could well get the best of him. Marsh always has injury concerns. Ponting is still yet to show he even deserves to be in the team. Clarke gets a tick. And Haddin and Hussey aren't in the best of form.
Would definately be putting India as favourites at the moment.

Haha, sorry, what? Really like Khawaja but he's done next to sfa in six-seven tests now. Marsh, on the other hand, has been gold in all but two innings that he's played.
