Actually, the first test was held at Sydney! Arguably the best batting wicket in the series.
That was the famous test where McCabe hit 187. And Larwood took a 10 wicket haul. His only 10 wicket haul in the series.

Yeah. Even I've heard a lot about this innings.
Apparently, he struggled a lot during the first 30 runs or so. He was "caught" by Jack Ikin at slip when he was on 28. But refused to walk. There's still talk among historians whether he hit the ball or the ground. Following that reprieve, he discovered his old touch and accelerated as you rightly remember.

It is a very significant innings, because it was his first major innings after the War. He was unwell and not very sure of prolonging his career. But for that innings and THAT reprieve while on 28, who knows....the Bradman saga might've ended in 46!

My favourite knock of Bradman was that of Karan316 who suggested because he hadn't seen any of Bradman's innings on video, they must have been concocted.
