***Official*** India in Australia 2011/12

In a normal world you would have players lining up to show that they are good enough to bat at 3, but in the weird world of the current Australian team, it is thought appropriate that first timers are to be thrown in at three, and the experienced players are staying put.

The captain needs to take the responsibility and give Usman or whoever a few games at five or six as has usually been done in the past.

Why?

It's so stupid, you're sacrificing so much in terms of runs for some intangible "responsibility" bull. The reason Usman bats top order is because he's batted top order all his life.

Like Chappell but every week and every new article just contradicts the previous weeks article.

haha, was just about to say the same damn thing. Would help his standing in the team if he 'led from the front'? As if the bloody Chappell's gave anything resembling a **** in that direction.

Ian batted one down when he was captain and continued to do so when Greg became captain

Chappelli just be trolling, surely? Whole article's full of it:

Chappelli said:
India's bowling doesn't match up as well as the New Zealand attack did in favourable conditions....Unless Zaheer Khan is fully fit, India aren't so well-endowed when it comes to proven swing bowlers.
I love the smell of revisionism in the morning.

Boult and Bracers might look like "proven swing bowlers" in retrospect, but had like two tests between them beforehand and Southee's average was north of 40, which would look bad even for an Indian seamer.

The sight of greenish pitches will have the Indian batsmen reeling
Yeah, all of them. No qualifications. Dravid really struggled with the moving ball up here, eh?

I was only pointing out that he had led from the front at No.3 position.Remember his innings of 90 after electing to bat on a suspicious looking Brisbane pitch in 1974 which set up a win for Australia in the first test of the Ashes series.Probably he was talking from experience.A few years back Ponting used to do it.So IMO there is nothing wrong in his suggestion as Clarke is the best batman Australia have
The rest of the article seems to be childish to say the least

Waugh and Border didn't do it.

Clarke's best position is at 5. The best thing for the team is for him to bat where he'll score most runs.

Agree, but when the top order is fragile virtually there won't be much difference between No.3 and 5.Since No 6(Hussey)and No 7(Haddin) are not reliable and tail lacking the punch of Johnson,Clarke may find himself run out of partners as happened in the first inning of the first Test in SA.Border and Waugh didn't face such dilemma. If Australia can find a decent pair of openers and send Watson down at 6, No 5 would be the ideal position for Clarke
