An effort to pick an All-time ODI XI

Ha ha, I think I have been a bit harsh with my sarcasm to piss you off :p

The point I tried to make is that leadership shouldn't be one of the 'reasons' a player can be selected in a team. Select your best XI, and then select a leader among those XI - should be the correct algorithm. It doesn't help your team morale if your captain is not a shoe-in selection as a player, let alone an undeserving one.

By the way, if Dravid wins the semifinal battle in the favorites thread then I'm gonna vote for Imran in the finals. So, grab a lassi and chill :)

More as a captain and bowler (with a bit of batting) tbf. And itbt I hadn't thought of Kapil (who gets really under rated around here). It isn't quite as ridiculous as you want to make it sound :p

I think Imran has a strong case to be the second greatest cricketer after the Don IMO. For PEWS he is ahead of even Bradman (Oh shoot. This will get your knickers in a real twist).
Doesn't get my knickers in a knot at all. He belongs in the argument and is one of the greates players ever. I certainly think he's the best of the four great all rounders of his time, and with Botham, Miller and Sobers (in no particular order) the greatest all rounder.

The thing with ODIs though, is it's a bastardised form of the game, especially with bowling. I mean, with all due respect to the likes of Symonds and Chris Harris and the like, that their type of bowling can be so useful and important in such a respected form of the game is a bit of an indictment really.

Just saw that Gordon Greenidge is not even available for pick :-O
...probably because he was the 2nd best opening batsman in his team :p

Just joking...I think both him and Haynes should have been there...A lot of credit for Richards' ODI success should go to those 2 IMO.

I was going to have a go but when I couldn't select more than 2 allrounders and Viv is one, I got the ****s. So I decided to pull a Kingkallis and name 3 11s

Give an arm to watch a round robin between those teams. 3rd eleven to make some puss scores after being 2-10 often and also a decent chance of being 0-120 after 15. 2nd eleven to be a right pain in the arse in the SC. 1st eleven to shade it overall though.

Awesome work King Kallis. I do have to agree with Joao though on the all rounder restrictions, I would have picked an extra one if I had a chance, but it's a well designed thing to have on your own website.

Yeah, it's bound to happen with the immense number of Indian supporters. Nothing much you can do about it I guess :p

This team might be a bit unorthodox, but I believe that batting strike rate is far more important than batting average and bowling economy rate is far more important than bowling average (in ODIs).

1. H. Amla
2. V. Sehwag
3. S. Tendulkar
4. V. Richards (c)
5. A. Gilchrist (k)
6. S. Afridi (6)
7. A. Flintoff (5)
8. K. Dev (4)
9. R. Hadlee (3)
10. W. Akram (1)
11. S. Bond (2)

Afridi to bowl some of Dev/Flintoff's overs if it's a turning wicket, otherwise there as a batting gamble.
