If you don't open with a spinner when you need to bowl the opposition out cheaply and quickly, on a slow wicket, when your spin bowler bowled well in the first innings from all reports, when do you open with one??awta
EDIT: But for serious - imo, it's a gamble to open with a spin bowler, and it hasn't payed off here at all. Almost completely regardless of the wicket, the best time for a paceman to bowl is with the new ball, but spinners can be used (and maybe even excel) with the older one. [/statetheobvious] Now we lose that advantage, and find ourselves with no wickets and 100+ runs down.
I'm not against it very rarely, but it's a risk, and it shouldn't have happened today. I would be fuming if I was Copeland, or even Hazlewood.
It would definitely be a strange kind of orgasm, I'll give you that.Wonder what you would have said if Copeland opened at one end and if O'Keefe was playing and opened at the other...
His name is Daya Singh and I'm pretty sure he is still only 16. A couple of my mates played against him in representative cricket a year or two ago. They told me that Singh was the fastest bowler they have ever faced. I also regularly speak to a bloke who plays 4th/5th grade for Sutherland and he also commented on Singh, saying that he was "****ing lightening".Hahahaha check the edit. ffs too slow.
btw for this nsw U17 team 'D SINGH' took a 7 on grade debut (or maybe 6) so he's probably one to look out for. never seen him bowl obv.
