So Dar's explanation is that he thought that the spot was from pad? Where was the evidence of the bat hitting the pad? I didn't see any.

I think the bat clearly hit the pad; the bat was miles away from the ball. He would have been incredibly lucky to survive.

It was tight and it was a 50/50 call. But if you want to not get out then don't get hit plumb in front.

Regardless of what actually happened, there is doubt. This length of discussion is enough proof of that; ergo not out. Certainly not enough to overturn. Really poor from the third umpire.

They should have referred it, Dar would have still given it even if there was a spot

Whats the point of having the technology when the third umpire doesn't use it? Surely ANY mark on the bat that is where the ball past (and theres no way it was pad, since the bat didn't hit the pad where the ball past) raises doubt making the decision not out. Ridiculous.
