Probably not if Cummins replaces Starc.
Would think Starc would go better, in my opinion. A lot of what makes Cummins really dangerous is negated on the rolled mud they call a pitch down there. And if there's some swing around, Starc would come into the frame more, tbh.

That's as it stands right now. Reckon Cummins has a lot more room to grow. Hard to say with blokes so young and I could easily be so damn wrong.

I don't think replacing the current batsmen will solve much. They're the best we have but they don't have the mental game. The building blocks are there but we're trying to use jelly instead of concrete to build a team.

Don't think Franklin for Guptill or Williamson would be the worst move. Would solve the 5 bowlers problem too.
Franklin isn't a bowler. Part time at best these days. Cummins would also kill him with his bouncer.

Franklin is also a flake. We don't need another.

Also, if we drop Kane, I lose a bet that I really, really don't want to lose.

It would mean Taylor or Ryder would have to bat 3 though. Which isn't ideal.

Realistically Franklin can't come in for Guptill so it's only Williamson who would go out.

I suppose we could put Young at 3 as a sacrificial lamb, he is suited better up the order naturally but wouldn't make it at this level.

Fair enough, can't really agree with that though. Reckon Cummins would be a better bowler at this stage in any conditions. At a minimum, he houldn't leak as many runs in any case. Thought Cummins actually bowled pretty damn well in the Shield final without much luck.

Williamson doesn't need to be dropped from the team, he just needs to be dropped down the order.

Franklin isn't "part time at best". He's just not a frontline bowler.

He is a bit of a flake though, just seems to hate batting under pressure in international cricket. That said he also played a few knocks in India that were majestic under pressure.

Vettori has been a solid batsmen for us recently and always seems to produce the runs, yet whenever I see him bat live he's looks so unorthodox that it gives me about as much faith in him of a drunk guarding a distillery.

But gets the runs anyhow.

I wish we were good at cricket.

Scrap the HRV Cup, 20 match FC season rah rah etc etc

At least we'll discover who the injury prone bowlers are.
All our athletes who could be fast bowlers choose to play rugby instead. Chris Cairns was a classic example, he was in the NZ U17s rugby team, and the only likely reason he chose cricket ober rugby was because of his old man. Israel Dagg apparently bowls over 140 clicks and Taine Randell was supposedly express too. That's our problem.

^haha KN, would be lolz if we went macho and picked Milne to see if we could flounce-kill some Australians.

We won't though.

I wonder if Wright will reintroduce the "if you hit a six in the nets you're out" that he enforced during the world cup after we lost 5-0 to the Bangers?

The solution is ban all NZ rugby that isn't NPC? Hmm I like this idea.

Taylor averages 40+ at 4 and 38 at 5. I don't see what would be achieved at dropping him down other than letting someone who is too scared to come in at 3 come in at 4 instead.

We haven't had a decent No. 3 since Flem retired, so we need someone to bat there and grow into the role. Having a revolving door of people to be sacrificed against the new ball to make it easier for everyone else is just stupid and cowardly.
